Killer B Motorsport - HOLY HEADER / Up-Pipe Released!
We are proud to announce the release of our much anticipated Holy Header. Unlike most of the 10+ year old JDM and WRC knock-off header designs on the market, we have taken a whole new approach at header design using state of the art 3D solid modeling and software simulations.
This product has been in development for the better part of the past year, and with the request from the Subaru community to provide more data to back up our design, we've don'e just that. Not only does the Holy Header dramatically increase the power and efficiency of any OEM location turbo, it comes with a lifetime warraty as well. Here is some info from our website... The Killer B Motorsport Holy Header was developed using state of the art CAD software & simulations to determine optimal design to increase power in the mid to high RPM range. Short as possible primaries with a single secondary significantly decrease header volume allowing exhaust gas pressure to build quickly. Symmetrical 4-1 design maintains high and consistent exhaust ’pulse’ energy as RPMs rise. While it’s difficult to beat the spool-up time of an OEM manifold without a tune, you can expect faster spool up time compared to long primary/double secondary designs. A difference you will immediately notice in throttle response and the ability to hold more power higher into the revs. Features include: · Short Equal Length Primaries. The shortest possible length primaries you can have on an Equal Length header. Short means small volume that can pressurize faster and that means quick spool up. · Symmetrical Primary Design. All primaries have a similar tube length AND bend geometry. This keeps the pulse velocities high and consistent. · Smooth Large Mandrel Bends. All of the bends utilize a mandrel for smooth non-restrictive flow. Not only that, we use the largest bends possible at every location. It would be cheaper to use 2” bends everywhere like others do, but that’s not going to give the best performance. · 321 Stainless steel construction. 321 is alloyed with titanium, costs more, a lot more, but it’s the ideal material for high temperature turbocharged applications. Would 304 stainless work, yes, but the temperatures on our turbocharged cars can exceed the limits of 304 stainless enough to make them brittle and crack. 321 stainless steel has higher strength and toughness at elevated temperatures. It was developed by the aircraft industry specifically to address 304 stainless manifolds that were cracking. · V-Band Up-Pipe Connection. Why V-Band? Fast, easy and no gasket, no leaks, perfectly concentric alignment of tubes means no disruption of flow, what’s not to like! · Up-Pipe included. Of course it comes with an Up-Pipe! This header was designed as a complete 'system'. Using other up-pipes would only compromise performance, and nobody wants that. · Weights 18 pounds (vs. OEM weights 25 pounds) · Works with OEM EJ25 Oil Pans and Killer B Motorsport Oil Pan · Made in the USA and Killer B quality! Fits ALL Impreza EJ-Series engines with OEM location turbo. +1 I remember the thread leading up to this. Looks great and will hopefully put those other headers to shame. Too bad that I already see that people are going to complain about how it is crap and overpriced...sigh.

Thanks guys!
We're using all independant data in hopes of minimizing the poo poo factor. I know when I research parts I'm always skeptical of the "marketing" data that's been collected in-house. As far as pricing goes, all you have to do is price 321 stainless, that is literally twice as expensive as 304, and you'll easily see that we're not going to get rich making headers.

Very cool. I really like the V-band connection at the header to uppipe, I've thought about doing that in that leak-prone area and wondered why other manufacturers have not tried this.

^ Thanks
My guess is no one else does V-Band because 2 V-Band Flanges plus quick release V-Band Clamp is much more expensive than 2 flat flanges.

I figured there would be an added cost going with a V-band, but figured people could easily justify that added cost for the benefit of a sure, solid, leak-free connection between the header and uppipe.

No plans as of yet.
When we first started researching and laying out a design, I have to admit I was skeptical of using the V-Band. Having done the install a bunch of times, inspecting parts and re-assembly, it's so much better, faster, leak free, than traditional flanges and gaskets. We're definitely going to be using them in the future!

That's what people tell me (on a GD with catted helix DP and Maddad Whisper Cat-Back), but the car done at Epic sounds more aggressive (on a GR with Catted Invidia DP and Megan Cat-Back). I'll see if I can get some sound clips of his car, besides the dyno pulls.

I wanted to post my thoughts on the new Killer B header, testing results, and images as we installed it.
Killer B Company Overview For starters, I want to commend Chris and his excellent customer service, by far, one of the easiest manufacturers to work with, he listens and communicates well, which is extremely difficult to find in this industry. As a company who strives for customer satisfaction in every way possible, it's refreshing to work with Chris and Killer B. Chris knows his product, how it works, why he makes things the way he does. Chris is willing to explain theory, he is an engineer at his core, and his header shows a truly unique design that we were eager to test for him. EFI has been installing his Ultimate Oil Pick-up in every engine we build since 2009, and have always commended Chris on his quality of craftsmanship. Aesthetics When we first received the header, we were all extremely skeptical of the design, it's looks and quirky 4-1 collector seemed as though it would lack the flow characteristics of a good, free flowing header. After our tests, we were all to be fooled, this header has all the qualities to make an excellent addition to any STi platform. Installation Upon initial installation, we loved the V-Band Up-pipe, which made installation pretty easy. Our test car had a stock manifold and up-pipe bolted to an ATP 3076, so removal of the stock pieces and installation of the new header would replicate a typical installation for an end user. The installation went fairly easy, we had an issue with the 02 Sensor location, we were not comfortable with it being so close to the oil filter, this is something Chris is aware of and has already made a new design to rectify this issue. One other small thing that needed to be done, which is not uncommon for some header designs, we had to trim the radiator shroud. Keeping in mind that this particular car had a stock radiator, there may be some clearance issues with aftermarket, larger core radiators. The stock plastic under tray required minimal trimming, but was able to fit. Overall, the installation was very typical, and doesn't require any rocket science to install, an easy installation for those doing it in the driveway on their own. Pre-Header Dyno Testing Our test vehicle for this header was an 04 STi with the following modifications prior to the header installation: ATP 3076 IWG, Deatchwerks 750cc, Invidia Catless Turboback, Aquamist HFS6 Methanol system, APS 70mm Intake, APS 725 FMIC, APS Turbo Inlet, TGV Deletes, Grimmspeed Boost control Solenoid. The car, tuned prior to the header, made 380whp and 372wtq @ 25psi HP/TQ Boost/TQ Post-Header Dyno Testing After some tuning for the header, the car ended up making 407whp and 380wtq @ 25psi. This is a peak gain of +27whp and +8wtq. HP/TQ Boost/TQ Comparison Data and final thoughts Overall, the header performed as it should, there was some additional lag due to the typical heat energy loss from a thinner walled header over a cast manifold, but we find this to be very common when switching to headers. What really impressed us the most was the horsepower gain after 4500rpm. From the data below, you can see how horsepower begins to climb over the stock manifold chart, with the most impressive gain of +30hp at 6150rpm and +27hp at Redline! Torque gains were a little lower than expected for an STi going to an EL header, but, there were still some impressive gains found later in the power band, especially after 4700rpm. Peak torque gains were found at 6100rpm with +28ft/lbs. This header has dramatically increased power and torque after 4500rpm, and seemed to slightly shift the power band to the right. Our assumptions are that horsepower gains with cams would probably be magnified intensely after seeing these comparison graphs. The header gets a big thumbs up from us, although the price point is a little higher than most would be willing to spend, you are paying for very high quality 321 Stainless, which will have a high tolerance for extreme temperatures associated with turbocharged applications and will be resistant to cracking. Although we have no long term testing with this header, initial thoughts are that this header will last, but time will tell. - Chris HP/TQ Blue - Stock Manifold Red - Killer B EL Header Boost/TQ Blue - Stock Manifold Red - Killer B EL Header Boost/HP Blue - Stock Manifold Red - Killer B EL Header
