Any problems w/ STi bottom end on '02 WRX?
Hey guys,
I just developed a rod knock on my '02 WRX. Only 78k on the clock, too. Very sad. Anyway, I'm basically looking at a short block replacement. I called the parts department of the dealership where my car is just to compare the price with an STi short block, and the STi is - get this - $100 cheaper! The labor is the same, so I'd love to do this swap. The final motor would have the 2.5 STi bottom end, '02 WRX top end, Injen CAI, Borla header, Borla UP, Helix catted DP, and Borla catback exhaust. I would also have it Ecutek custom-tuned when all is said and done. Have any of you had any problems / issues with such a bottom-end swap (reliability, driveability, etc.)? And I know about the unstable A/F ratio issues with CAI's. Will it matter if I get the Ecutek tune? Thanks! |
