Default Testing waters...FS: possible New 2.5L shortblock with forged wiseco pistons

Hello all.....

I am testing the waters here on this and would like some feedback or an interested buyer if that is what happens....

I have a Perfect STI shortblock with 40,000 miles that I am going to install some forged standard sized pistons into after properly checking for bore clearance....

I was going to build this engine for myself as a spare but realized that my one oily cylinder was only caused by a busted valve seal, nothing more....

I am going to build this to what most places call Stage 1 spec...

which most seem to go for about $2100~$2300

I am going to balance the rotating assembly on a digital dynamic balancer....

Rings will be individually gapped and checked for each bore.....

Engine will be properly honed and crosshatched and RING SEAT will be used on the walls....

Childs and Albert assembly lube will be used to assemble the rotating assembly....

The main questions I have are these:

1. How much is a reasonable price for this shortblock after assembly with new forged pistons ?? I think around $1800 or so..... $400-$500 cheaper than a retailer of these kinds of engines...

2. Which pistons are the most preferred for street use by most performance STI drivers? I run JE's in my engine, but my car is mostly a weekend street warrior only...

I know that the Cosworth, WISECO, CP, COBB, JE, ROSS, ARIAS, etc... make pistons.... obviously, this will be a shortblock built with 400whp-500whp in mind... as a max for stock rod life...

Thanks!!
RYNO
