Been on an old Dell laptop with a 970GTX for a long time, pulling sim rig duty as well.

got a entry level VR Asus tower yesterday. 8-core i7, 16gb, 1tb ssd, RTX 2060.
Well actually first the Occulus Rift S became available, and then I moved on the rest to back it up.

went kinda bare GPU, mostly after the display port right now and being able to upgrade some time later.
have been spending time on Iracing, have a track IR setup and a 24" monitor. VR seemed cheaper than going fancy with the displays.

Now that the quest has an option to be used with the computer I'm seriously considering getting that.

that is a nice change, hopefully the Rift S will get the hand tracking.. given most of my use will be iracing

pretty excited, also excited to have a platform that will move along with some basic upgrades.

I already have one, it's DIY welded with a Impreza seat. G25 wheel/pedal and a old 24" monitor. PC is a laptop.

Was up against either needing a tower type case to do multiple vid cards and monitors.

Or start an entry level VR setup and get the start of a better monitor rig going as well. also why I didn't go too heavy on the GPU for now, I figure it'll get changed a little down the road.

Got the tower in place on Saturday, had it playable sunday.

I'm down on display resolution (below 1080p) so I'm not asking much from it, but everything looks good and its hardly trying. Laptop was pretty full duty from CPU/GPU with things turned down here and there. and iracing was closer to 40fps.

This setup is steady at 84 fps on iracing with everything maxed as far as I can support. I threw asetto corsa at it with a full field of AI cars which would chug my laptop. ran smoothly!

Case is semi simple, does have 25 RGB addressable LED's you can do some customization of. Rift S should be arriving around the 12th. Need to find some good vr experience type games beyond racing, some of it looks like crap from the shareware days.

I put my new computer together Saturday night and everything was great. The next day I started getting Memory_Management stop codes, and when I try running mem test I get this:

The test either fails at the very end or freezes part way through. I'm going to try different ram slots and testing one stick at a time, but I've already got replacement RAM coming from Amazon, so hopefully that's the issue.

I've gotten that before when one of the sticks wasn't seated correctly. Once it snapped in solid it was fine.

Looks like it was a single bad stick. I'm running on half memory until tomorrow, but I'm running.

Ordered one of the "be quiet" CPU coolers.. better cooling per decibel. Stock intel cooler throttles up pretty significantly when busy.

will be adding a second case fan.. and the Rift S arrives today to finish out this setup.

Holy **** have motherboard prices become ridiculous for AM4 boards. I basically had to pay 400.00 for a 200.00 board. It disappeared from fedex tracking so I ordered a MUCH nicer board that was backordered till the 15th for 330.00 from Amazon. I received notification that the 400.00 board has re-emerged from the bowels of fedex and will be here Monday. The 330.00 board ALSO shipped early and will be here Wed. Even crazier, the 330.00 board is now on Amazon for no less than 700.00!?!?? The 330.00 board is a Gigabyte Aorus Master BTW.

I got my replacement RAM installed. Everything seems to be running tickety boo. I've installed Fallen Order and The Witcher 3, both running great on ultra settings.
