![]() Alright I’ve about given up at this point and need ur guys help badly. My Baja with 145k refuses to go past 3500-3700ish and sounds like it’s backfiring through the intake? Boost doesn’t want to go past 5psi on my gauge and it feels like it too, my check engine light also starts flashing if I try to rev it beyond 3500 and says it’s misfiring on all cylinders. Compression is fine and there seems to be nothing wrong with the motor itself other than it having no mid to high range power at all. I replaced almost everything I could think of like the maf, plugs, coils, front o2 sensor, air filter, hell I even swapped over to my stock bpv cause I heard that hks valves leak but it made zero difference. My engine is completely stock other than a few ricer mods like a v7 sti tmic, hks bov and hot air intake but other than that it’s factory. To be honest I haven’t tested if it’s a boost leak yet but I’ve triple checked my lines/hoses and everything seems to be fine, the turbo spools up and sounds fine so I don’t think it’s that. The engine used to have bad hesitation at low rpm’s but that’s been fixed with a restrictor pill since It was missing. Last thing that I should probably mention is that the backfiring issue started happening almost ever since I got the car (had it for about a year and a half now) but only at around 5500rpm so I never went up that high so the engine never really felt like it was giving its full power. Please help lol I really don’t want to go to the stealership. (Also just realized I can’t upload my video from my phone which is just great)

![]() You know you need to do a "boost leak test"
Also verify those hose from tmic to TB or inlet hose to turbo is not torn. |

![]() Also, you don't need the stealership. Find a good old local repair shop that has been around for a long time and seems to lots of cars/customers there.

![]() Could be a plugged or broken cat?
I've experienced similar symptoms on a car where revs would not climb beyond about 4000 and felt like hitting a rev limiter. Inner core of the cat had broken free and would plug the exhaust once enough air was pushed through exhaust system. Idle and low rpm driving were completely normal, and once the damaged cat was removed issues were resolved. |

Seconding the boost leak. The intercooler hose likes to leak, and another great place for boost leaks to hide is in the corrugated section of the inlet hose. Inspecting this might require taking the intake off, plenty of info on youtube for that. |
