Fuel pump, I think you'll need a walbro Your stage 2 reflashed ecu will definitely not work with this turbo.

you could also search on modding your stock injectors if your going for cheapest route possible. adn as said ^^^ your current reflash won't work with the vf39 and neither will any of Cobb's shelf maps. The only year cobb has shelf maps for the vf39 is the 06-07 wrx. |

![]() Where is the link on Cobbs website?
Just so you guys know, the brass restrictor is common with IHI turbos because their wastegates are so small and open at a relatively low threshhold. The brass restrictor is there to even the boost pressure out. If it weren't there, the pressure leaving the compressor would hit the wastegate at once and open it that much earlier than it already does. The stock wastegate on the RHF55 series starts to open at 8 psi and is fully extended by 10 psi. Putting the restrictor in place changes the dynamic of how/when the wastegate diapragm operates when it recieves it's signal. Here is more info from my own forum. We have IHI turbos too: http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104772 Here is a simple test for your own wastegates: http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118043 And here is my wastegate thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...php?p=17298704 Last edited by SixSick6; 03-09-2007 at 12:15 PM. |

![]() Dumb question, but if I have a VF39 with the pill in the vacuum line, theres no need to drill? Drilling is only neccessary if sawpping the stock TD04 pill to the VF39 correct? Just wanted to clear that up, its going in this weekend. Thanks

![]() I believe the pill that comes with the vf39 is slightly larger than the #57 drill bit that cobb uses. You may have trouble hitting target boost. I'm installing my vf39 next week with the vf39 pill and I'll let you know how it does. Since I'm tuning it myself, I can adjust my WGDC's if I don't hit target boost.

![]() I spoke with cobb before I did mine and they told me first hand that an 04/05 sti restrictor pill is the right size. I decided to drill mine cuz the bit was only
0.70 but if a local dealer has one might as well get it. |

![]() i would start smaller (stock td04 pill) and work your way up to the #57...i've been running the cobb stage 3 shelf map for a month and a half or so and can't hit target boost whether its 83F or 10F in any gear....i ordered the stock vacuum line with pill at the parts department at my dealer and is coming in tomorrow, i'm gonna run it stock size and see what happens....the highest boost i get is about 15psi in 4th gear.
also for you guys already running the 39's in your 06-07 when are you getting full boost? i'm not getting full spool until around 4K. |

![]() Wow, now that's a funny thing. Google has a search bar that does most of the hard work. A person just need to know the name of what they're looking for. Come on now sixer.

![]() I'm running pretty much stock as far as intake/exhaust goes on my 06 WRX. Will I need to upgrade my fuel pump or injectors for this swap?

![]() VF39 went on yesterday. Shredded my hands up pretty good. On the oil drain rubber line, I used a real screw type hose clamp to hold it to the hard line on the turbo and it kept it in place. I'm running the sti pill and hitting target boost.
