Hey -
I have a set of STi struts/springs in my garage that I need to install.
Unfortunately, I don't have a spring compressor or a socket wrench with a hole in it (to remove the top mount). Does anybody have the tools that they're willing to loan out for a weekend?
Thanks in advance,
Chad

One more try before I use vice grips and zip ties...
Anybody have a spring compressor or "special" socket wrench?

If you're that desperate, you can borrow my spring compressor(s). I'm SW of Chicago, though, so I'm guessing there's an Autozone closer, where you can rent them for free, and buy them for $15.
I don't understand your description of the socket wrench; where is the hole?

Thanks for the info. I'm sure there is an autozone closer. I didn't realize they would be so cheap. In the pictures I've seen, it looks like a fairly complex tool. I think a drive to SW chi would cost more in gas than the tool
The socket wrench I'm talking about is used to remove the strut top from the strut. There is a hole through the square plug so you can put an allen wrench through the hole and hold the bolt (the strut in this case) steady while turning the nut.
An alternative I've heard is to hold the socket with a pair of vice grips so you can access the strut with an allen wrench, but I'm not too sure how well that would work.
I will probably end up picking up the socket wrence from Sears, I can't imagine they are too expensive. It's just a fairly specialized tool (as is the spring compressor) that I don't plan on needing again for a long time, so I was looking to save a few bucks...

I could give you a hand. It's just a short trip from milwaukee.
Tek, thanks. Any time you want to pimp me, you go right ahead.
