Default EXEDY Hiper Single Clutch any good?

Just weighing my options at this point. I can purchase an Exedy Hyper Single cluch setup for around $700. From the looks of it, this setup comes with the flywheel, fancy anodized clutch cover, and the disk all in a package.

My other option was get a GDB JUN flywheel, STi metal friction disk, and a STi cover/pressure plate.

What are your guys recommendations. I will have the STi 6MT so I am not too worried about damage to the mission.

Thanks,

Andy

You should consider a CUSCO Twin Plate setup. That clutch is by far the best one I have ever used including Ogura and OS Giken Twin Plates.

The CUSCO setup is very nice. No shaddering and no crazy engagement. It is smooth like a silka and grabs like a monster. You can slip it. You can dump it. You can do whatever you want with it and it will take it all.

Super Singles are very harsh. Very. I have used on on a Prelude for the past year and I am hurting. God forbid you get stuck in traffic.

Yes it is.

I wouldn't bet my life that those are are identical, but CUSCO one is made by EXEDY. It even still have the EXEDY logo stamped on it.

Remember, he is asking about the Super Single clutch and I am saying to use CUSCO twin plate, which in fact is made by EXEDY.

Alex you are correct...
As for which clutch...They both are intergrated flywheels built on so you wouldn't have to buy a flywheel....I'd say if your not pushing crazy ponies like me and alex are.."before he blew the tranny" Stay with the single disk setup..The twin disk is overkill for you unless you want to spend $1,800 on a clutch...Gerry

Well, I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and you may be suprised when I get my car together! Crazy horsepower is not at all out of the question with my setup. I am giong to shock alot of people when I get my ride together! She will be Exotic, and a beast. 3 letters will be abundant in the engine bay (JUN)

I am now looking into getting a Cusco, or Exeedy twin, but I always thought that OSG was the ish?

I can get these parts so much cheaper in Japan. More like 1400 for the Cusco twin.

Thanks for the inputs guys,

Drew

I recommend staying away from the SUPER SINGLE.

If you do not want twin plate, get a regular single plate clutch, like the STi one. It is enought. Look at Al, haha, hes happy with it.
