Default heater blower motor resistor

I'm still trying to find the heater blower motor resistor on a 96 Impreza sedan.
I've been told that it is near the blower motor but it isn't. Any ideas? thx

Worst case, just trace the wires that connect to the fan speed control knob.

It's inserted into AC evaporator case and held with two screws. To access, remove the glovebox.

where is the AC evaporator case. I removed the glove box but didn't find any resistor. Followed the wires from the motor and they go into a big bundle under the dashboard towards the middle of the car

It is right behind the glove box, as stated above it will be held in to the evaporator case with 2 screws. It doesn't look like your everyday tube shaped "resistor" it is a small box/resistor pack with I believe a 4 prong connector.

There should be a 4 prong connector that you have to disconnect to remove it. It should be completely visible with the glove box removed.

EDIT: wern, what year and model is your car? I thought I was responding to the OP, then I realized this thread is like 7 years old... Props for searching though
