Rear Suspension
While back i picked up a pair of 00-04 Outback heavy duty springs which i never installed. My 2005 Turbo baja has 140k of some hard hauling miles on it and the back end doesn't seem to stay up as good as it used too.
So now i'm thinking if I install the 00-04 Outbacks springs over a new set of 2005 Baja struts will my rear end sit lower since the 2005 Baja is a little taller than the 2003 baja, and will the 00-04 springs fit at all and give me the result of the same right height with stock or better loading power. Any opinions or options will be much help....

From what I have found (and I have researched this a lot) most of the height difference is from the struts themselves. The strut bodies on the Outback (and on the 2003 Baja) are about 1" shorter than on the 2004-2006 Baja. The Baja springs are actually about the same length as the Outback springs, the wire is just a thicker gauge. If these rear springs that you have are like Overloads or some other heavy duty rear spring, you will be fine. You may get some butt sag with the Outback springs in the rear, but you can always run a small spacer at the strut top. Subtle Solutions, Paranoid Fabrications, etc.
Also OEM springs do not tend to degrade much over time. I'm betting that most of your current sag is due to aging struts rather than worn out springs. That's my 2 cents. |

I think I'll go with the HD outback springs on the oem struts along with some spacers and see the results.......thanks

No problem. From what I have been reading, you will probably want to run 1/4" or 3/8" saggy butt spacers in the rears. Good luck!
