I had ordered a set of 225/40/18s to replace my tires but thanks to you all I just changed the order to 245/40/18s. I hope they fit. Got a set of 225/45/17 Blizzaks too. (winter tires)

hey guys, has anyone throw anything bigger then like a 235 on the 08+ wrx's. im just trying to find some people who have did some wider wheels so i can finalize some wheel choices. im wanting to run 265-35 18s. seems pretty realistic given some what appear to be dullies from the rear theres so much rubber. but would 265s bulge pretty bad on a 8.5? the wheels im planning on are 18x8.5 svns based on design, color and size. i believe there a +48. i dont want to get anything much lower offset and i just dont like the dpts much on the newer body style. im pretty dead set on rotas becasue ive never had any problems from having them as opposed to my ssrs i just sold which loved to bend..anyways im running bc racing coilovers so i have some more inner clearance so i dont wanna go to low on the offset, its easier to add a 3mm spacer to clear inner then pull more on the fender for me, plus i ride pretty low so itll be easier with a higher offset. thanks for any help!

I agree, that's why its in the shop right now getting reworked, it was painted before i got to see it and give my final direcion. It makes my 275 look small, it is the anti agressive. Im curious what everyone will think when it is finished, definaitley more agressive and clean at the same time. A lot of shaving.

Wowww meeatttty!!!
Sorry to thread jack but just a quick question. Is there a big difference in 235/45/17 and a 245/45/17 on a 17x9 DPT? I saw some pictures of 17x9 on 245 and they don't look meaty at allll.

the sidewall on the 245s will be a bit taller so will its radius, diameter and circumference. but its revs/mile will be less. the 245s will be wider. all this assuming you are comparing the same brand and model of tire. each and every tire is different. some brands make their 235 wider and/or taller than another brand's 245. and using either 235 or 245 wont get you that meaty look, you're asking for a stretched appearance. 255+ on those 9" wide wheels is the way to go.

google the tire calculator and look up the "specs" on those tires sizes on tirerack.

depends on the specs of the tire. look up the tirerack specs on the type of tire you plan on getting. the spec sheet will tell you what's the recommended wheel width (labeled rim width range). they're all different so i can't give you a concrete answer

Cool thanks man. I drive an RS so I don't want to go too wide knowing it will be heavier. So should I not go 17x9? I'm only going 17x9 because I want the white DPT and too lazy to paint 17x8s. Suggestions comments welcomed.
