^^^GC looks good Lowride!

soo many nasty setups in this thread. Ill bump this thread up with a question...

Looking to do some 255 40 17 Star Specs on a 17x8 +48 on a 07 STI. I do like the Meaty tire look with a bit of a buldge. RCE Taramac zero's and camber plates up front, bolts in the rear. Anyone see any issues with this? Im not sure if ill need to pull, maybe a slight roll but the camber should make up for this....yes?

The star specs run at 10.4" at 255-40-17 vs the OEM RE070's at 8.9" at 225-45-17.

anyone have any pics of a 255 on a 17x8? There was a few in here already

Why that big on a 8" rim? It wont handle as good as a smaller tire would. You'll have lots of tire roll.

This was my old setup. 17x8 +48 with 255/40/17 Nexen N3000 and a 10mm spacer all around. I now have 245/40 on the same wheel as spares which i think fit the wheel much better.

My new setup 17x9 +42 dpt with 5mm spacer in rear. 255/40/17

well i guess ive seen some people do a 255 40 on a 17x8, and while it might buldge a little depending on the tire, i just think it looks sick! I don't think a 245 will be wide enough for me, but at the same time i dont wanna put up the cash for wider rims. Tough spot im in i guess...

a guy on here posted with a 05 STI and some 255 40 azenis on his stock bbs, and it didn't look bad at all

Thanks for the pics CRPWRX

Ya I have 245's on my 7.5 rims and they blow (got them cause they were super cheap). So much float in them. I would stick with the 245's on the 8" they will be big and they will handle alot better then the 255's. Just my opinion. 255/40/17 rim range is 8.5"- 10" Just something to think about.

Yeah with the 255 on the 8 that i was running it felt soo mushy. The 245 performs so much better and still looks meaty on the 8.

alright alright, you guys have persuaded me. Really wanted to try a 255 but I guess ill try the 245's and go up from there with a wider rim. it just doesn't seem that aggressive. Anyway thanks for your input guys

ill post up some pics when its all complete

^I was the same way when i got the 255's mounted. 245 is a good choice.

18x9.5 +30
255/35/18

and after I added a 25mm spacer on the front

so the fronts are +5, and still have room to spare...

Eventually I'll have 285/30/18 V710s or Hoosiers. And I'll use like a 5mm or 10mm spacer to push it out.

even with coilovers and slight camber up to -1.5" ? You mean the fenders need to be rolled or pulled?

no fender mods needed. not even a roll. granted im not slammed i dont see any issues.

as for the people saying 255/40/17 (not 45) are sloppy on 17x8 wheel, i ran these rt615s on tons of autocross days and the sidewalls are still mint. i push the car hard into turns and my suspension isn't the best so it does roll a bit. if the tires were the weak point i think there would be physical evidence.

the one and only pic i have of my car lol

Pignose, your meaty tires/wheels would look sweet with some LICmotorsport flares when they come out!

Sure thing. I'll try to find and keep more of the autox photos I find, and post them. Otherwise, I don't have too many other photos in it's recent state.
