Default Travelers in need of some help w Bugeye near Bend OR

Been on the road since November in bone-stock form & logged 10,000 nearly trouble-free miles, hoping to keep it that way. Car has been a shoestring budget endeavor since day 1, having saved it from a partout & wrenching on it back home in Ohio. A couple issues are beginning to present themselves .. Faint clunk in rear hub now shows wear on the tire .. All hardware was new on departure, I suspect parking brake shoe. Stock exhaust has rusted through before the cat and is loud & smelly. Rotate tires & align perhaps ?? Otherwise running superb, just trying to keep rolling with max MPG.

I asked a couple people from the area on instagram if they knew anyone chill who would let me work on this thing at their spot & they just recommended hourly shops. I can use google just like anyone else to find a place to pay top $$$ to fix it & call me when it's done .. How many people can afford to do that with these cars nearing 20yrs old anyhow ?? What I'm wondering is if someone wouldn't mind me stopping through to wrench for a day or 2 .. Have a fair bit of tools with me but things like stands or a lift would be crucial. Can score beer, etc & make you a dank ass lunch in retribution. The air cooled VW & diesel Benz crowd has been very helpful in networking for travel maintenance in the past for me & I'm seeking the same as a Scooby newbie.

Call or text any time, 440.789.9654, email is [email protected]. Thank you for your time.

Cheers,
JD

200 views and no love for a fellow Scoober in need? Is it a money thing, lunch from a 10 year chef ain't good enough? Do I need to offer sex acts or hard dope?

I see at least three or four of these same exact cars every single day out here, and with them nearing 20 years old I'd be surprised if everyone is booking them at hourly shops. Had a brake line blow out a couple weeks ago while hauling up & down Hwy1 with four people and our stuff, and that unexpected walk-in repair at a shop in California set us back a good several weeks' worth of living on the road.

Not looking for a handout, just a solution to spending hundreds on simple maintenance fixes. We have SOME money to offer, just not $120/hr shop rate kind of money. We're from the Midwest man, minimum wage is $8.55 in Ohio! This west coast thing is a whole new world!

You're in the wrong state. The only Subaru guy I know down there moved and de-friended me on FB a while back.
Come up into WA and I can help.

I've got a jack, stands and hand tools available in Portland. I also just noticed this ad for a $20 catback: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...907868122.html

Will send a PM.

If you make it to Portland, my shop could be available.
There's lots of places along the way that would have parts and/or expertise:
- 541 Motorsports in Grants Pass
- FTW Tuning or Garage 808 in Eugene
- one in Salem, I forget the name
- Surgeline in Tualatin
- PRE in Portland
- AMP Auto Tech in Hillsboro

Pretty sure none of those places would be cool with letting him pull in and work on his own stuff.
