Default Anyone here a financial advisor or know one?

i'm trying to learn more about investment-grade insurance. i'm fairly new to retirement planning and equity management, but have been reading a book, and learning a bunch. just looking for someone that can help me with some pointers...i've already decided to lower my 401k and get into a rothIRA. that'll be my first step.

Just invest in HAL(Haliburton) stock! Tomorrow will mark a nice dividend check from a year ago. Visit nasdaq.com type in HAL as your symbol. $62 I wish I listened.

I am one, of sorts, but I don't do a lot of retirement planning. Is that what you are mainly interested in? I can probably help with at least some of your questions.

For investment background, I woul read these chapters and do all the problems in the text:

"Investments, (Sixth Edition), 2005, by Bodie, Z., Kane, A., and Marcus, A., Chapters 1 (background only), 25, 6 (excluding appendix), 7, 8 (excluding appendix), 912 and 25."

For pension info, "Fundamentals of Private Pensions" by McGill is a classic.

For life insurance edumuhcation, I would also recommend "Life Insurance Products and Finance" by Atkinson, et al

good luck

but seriously, you can learn a lot on your own and save $ by going to sites like fool.com, bankrate.com, yahoo finance, etc. financial planners want a fair amount of money to do stuff you could do on your own, with a little reading.

...and hopefully, us pimping her services out to you folks gets me off the hook for bailing on my meeting with her... doh! ... but to be financially 'managed', you must first have finances -TO- manage .. and so my buying a car recently pretty much wiped that out

my insurance agent in SC had these great big breasts... you'd have to call them melons. they were big enough that they were not even slightly sexy, more of a source of mathematical fascination to a structural engineer such as myself. i always caught myself staring, but not for the reason she thought.... see, that much cantilevered weight..... oh screw it.
