wagon fender flares
I have been searching for years for a solution to running wider tires and STi control arms on my wagon and just picked up a set of Wald fender flares for the Lexus IS300. I duct taped them on and the fit is pretty darn good, and by next spring I will be running 275's on 17x9 wheels .
Updates, fenders cut, ready for the flares: DONE!

You know I was thinking about doing that, because I eventually want to run 17x9 +37, but I decided to go with a roll and pull. The flares don't look bad at all. That's what GST Motorsport's gc8 runs.

There is a local member here that is running 275's on a 10 inch wide rim without flares. Just took some massaging of the wheel well.

I like it. Anybody know what the ramifications of cutting the fenders are? Is there a pinch seam in there you need to be worried about? I guess I would have to look and see what is behind them.
Of course, I'm not sure I'm ready to hack into my fenders yet. It was easy to get past that mental block on my Jeep, but sure I could bring myslef to do it on the suby... |

Its a wonder that nobody makes something like this for the wagon already. It seems like it would be really popular. Maybe Wald will be that company that steps up?

I got them from these guys http://www.monsterhorsepower.com/ They had them in stock as spares for their race car and sold them to me after being assured from Wald that they could get more. I am not in a real hurry to get them on since I wont be tracking until next summer, so it will probably wait till spring.

I am interested to see how it turns out tho... if I don't sell my car, I'll be running carbon fiber doors, hatch, and sedan fenders..... flares might work. |
