Good to see you on good looking tips again. The stock exhaust on your car was bugging me. You know...because my opinion matters the most.
I still need to get my final tune done, then I'll have a 93oct pull for you to compare to. I am waiting until my short block is finished until doing e85 since the nearest pump is 30 minutes away. I'll put something together with my GoPro 2's and the new camera body that came in yesterday!

I really liked the sound of the stock exhaust (none). If I could get a 3" exhaust made that had that little sound, good flow, and nice flared tips, I would definitely use that. The SPT sounds and looks great, so I'm very happy with it even though it's a bit louder than stock.
I'm looking forward to seeing that 50-100mph pull. It makes sense to wait on E85 and bigger power until you swap the block. I probably would have just done it all at once though. Save on labor and have a mint OEM shortblock to sell. How do you like the 5D3? |

I have a friend that is a reputable engine builder that just wants my core and will build mine up for a deal. I also get a deal on other things due to business relationships...so I'm not out anymore than I would have been the other way. The 5D3 is INSANE. The focus speed beats all of the Nikons I have owned. Other than feeling like I have 2 left feet with the button placement right now...I am very happy with the switch. The video capabilities are light years away from every other DSLR. It really opens possibilities. Now I am just waiting on my lenses to make it in so I can begin selling all of my Nikon gear. Right now, I am just rocking the 50mm/f1.4 until the rest get here next week. |

Seems like we're both looking for that rare beast lol. I'm starting to think it's impossible to make or that the demand for quiet in the Subby world is so low that nobody wants to bother making one. Since going back to stock exhaust, cops don't even give me a second look whereas before it was like having a bullseye target painted on the car Good looking SPT though. I might consider it down the line after the build, if flow starts becoming an issue.

If I did video it would probably be even more reason to get some, but I don't really do any at all. The 7D's are enough to tide me over in the video department for the minor things I do. Someday I hope to be able to get one or more of those 5D3's though! Quote:

Here are a couple shots from today: Did close to 200 highway miles this morning. Picked up a lot of bugs driving at 4AM! The mileage indicator on the dash is off because of the injectors, but it actually calculated out to 20.4mpg! Which is great for me (on E85). Normally I'm around 15mpg. Nice to have 460WHP and be able to do 200 miles on $30 |

Nice to see you back on the SPT exhaust!
Quick question for you! The front page says you have the whiteline 24mm sway bar in front, and 22mm in the rear. But later on in the forum I read something along the lines of you ending up with 22mm sway bars in the front and rear. I'm a bit confused. If you've had both setups, which one would you recommend? I'm staying on stock suspension as I really like a comfortable ride, but I'd like to decrease the cars body roll as much as possible. Thanks! Damn, you make me spend too much money. |

I got a lip from a friend and put it on last night.
It was pretty easy. I just put a push pin in each end and a clamp in the middle. This held it pretty well, and then I put the push pin through the metal tab on each side. Next I drilled the holes for the rest of the metal tabs and installed those screws. Last I drilled all the holes for the smaller bolts. I started with the middle two and installed the bolts. By this point the lip was held pretty firmly so I could drill the rest of the holes and they would be in the right spots. It was all pretty easy. I did have some trouble with with the push clips on the very ends. It seems like the stock ones aren't long enough to read through 3 layers of plastic. I had a few from Autozone that were a little longer and they seemed to work OK, but I'm still not sure if they're in quite properly. Any tricks to make this work? The lip does seem to be on very securely, so it's just a curiosity. While I had the drill out, I made some more holes: This should let some more air get to the intake. I'm not really sure how much air will get through these little holes, but maybe it will help some. I'm not expecting miracles, just seemed like an easy thing to do. I'm not sure why there aren't holes from the factory, hopefully Subaru doesn't know something that I don't know.... |

Yeah, I've been trying to find a black fog light panel that I could pop in, but I didn't have any luck so I just drilled some holes. Not sure if it will help, but when it's on the car you really can't even tell I did anything (visually).

about time! more pics!
for the end push plugs, the OEM lip comes with longer ones that replace the original plugs, when i replaced it with a jna lip i just reused all the hardware. the longer ones from autozone should work. |

EDIT: I was on the fence about a lip. I really couldn't see myself paying for one. I'm not that big into the cosmetic mods. I think this subtle lip does look good though. Unfortunately it will probably be destroyed going in and out of my driveway. Looking at how badly my stock bumper was scraped up underneath does not give me a good feeling about the lip, LOL. |

just think of the lip as added protection for the bumper, so technically its a functional mod i recently slammed my jna lip into the ground while on the highway as it transitioned from pavement to grooved pavement. lucky i have 3 lips to rotate between lol. |

It crossed my mind, but I've heard it's really not very quiet at all, and has the rolled tips that I think look "meh". I'm guessing I'd like it about as much as the Q300 that I already tried.

Yep, I think that might be perfect for me. It's near the top of my list. I'm pretty happy with the SPT though. It sounds great, looks great, and I don't think the 2.5" midpipe affects power much.

Edit: I have the Q300 V2 and will be going nameless in about 2-3 weeks when my new cat back gets here (currently being made). I'll post what I think. I will be going with 5 inch mufflers because to me the magnaflow is too quiet. |

I don't know what the limit is for "high horsepower", but my car has 460WHP, and I didn't notice a difference.
I'm not really interested in the small muffler version. I want quiet. |
