Default Best Dealership for a WRX STi (DFW)

So within the next 4-6 months I will be getting a new WRX STi, already have the go ahead from the wife <---- 1/2 the battle.

I was wondering what dealerships you would recommend, and what you think the best way to go about getting a good deal would be.

Thanks!!!

Whoever has one in stock and will haggle with you. If you don't know what you're doing, take someone with you that does.

This really is true.

Lots will say stay away from Subaru of Plano because of bad management changes years ago but that's long changed.

I know sales men in SOP a s Sewell who won't bull**** you around. Now just cuz they won't doesn't mean the sales manager or finance guy won't.

I am basically going in with a Carmax price for my trade in, and keeping that in my back pocked to see what they give me for trade in value, and hopefully a blank check from my bank but, I am setting a price and won't move from that.

The only thing I have been trying to look up is what pricing people are able to manage.

For example, a WRX STI limited at Sewell w/Nav for $40,296. Do you think it is out of the question to get it down under $38,000? I am just not too familiar with mark up on these cars.

I emailed all of the area dealerships and visited a couple in the area last fall, and ended up buying from Sewell. They were willing to negotiate and I never noticed anything sneaky through the process, my salesman was very straightforward. If you're shopping solely on price I'd email all of the different dealerships to get a feel for which ones are willing to be flexible and which ones won't negotiate much below MSRP. Starting point should be $500-1000 below MSRP from my experience.

The invoice vs msrp is not very much on these cars. Usually average about $1,200 difference depending on what edition and equipment is on it. The less options it has the less markup.

Bought my STi from Subaru of Plano last year, and I wish I had gone somewhere else. It was a truly awful, horrible, nightmare of an experience. Nothing but bull**** and incompetence. Stay away from SoP at all costs!!!

I've been to Sewell Subaru a couple of times for maintenance and they seem great, but I've never purchased from them so can't say for sure. It's a hell of a lot nicer of a dealership than SoP, I can tell you that much.

I purchased my limited last year for 37K before TTR with Nav, so 38K is not out of the question. If they won't deal with you, contact the dealers in Houston.

I purchased my WRX from Jubilee Subaru and Mitsubishi in Waco. I know it was a 2 hr drive but I got a hell of a deal from David Grey which is the sales manager there. I got my WRX for around 26.5k with ttl and the gold warranty and no money down or trade.

I also just bought a CrossTrek yesterday from Subaru of Plano and had a great experience. I had a new fish sales man named Carter so he was running like crazy for us.

Take the time to drive to Gillman Southwest in Houston. Everyone there is great and your drive will be justified. If you do talk to James Rutledge, let him know Max/Backslider sent ya.

I picked up my STi at Sewell a month ago. They had it in stock, they were very easy going, did not push anything on me that I didn't want, came off the sale price some and everyone was very friendly. All in all the whole process took 3 hours from driving on the lot to driving off the lot. I would recommend them and when my wife is getting her next car she is going there.

Costco has an auto program, you can usually get a bit under their pricing.

http://www.costcoauto.com/new_cars/r...modelyear=2013

Just bought a Tacoma through the Program and got $1500 off invoice and the free extended warranty.

Looks like it does. Limiting factor would be the closest dealer to you in the program.

Deals are pre negotiated between Costco and the Dealer, although the dealer is the one that gives you the pricing they have setup. You can always call the Costco Auto Program number and check if that deal is correct and not inflated.

Each brand is different, cause it is based on invoice prices, hold back and availability. Like the Taco wasn't to much off cause the markup is not to high and they only hold back 2%. Plus they don't take much off them. They sell a **** load of them.

Huffvines Subaru of Denton is where I bought my STI in April. Zach Barnett was my salesman. Went in at 10:30 and was driving home by 1:30 in my new black STI sedan. No problems no hassle. Gave me top blue book on my trade . I looked it up before I went in to see them. They offered top dollar I didn't even ask .LOL !!!

Just read fine print.

"Eligible models
New 2011, 2012 and 2013 Subaru models and trims are eligible, except all BRZ, Impreza WRX and WRX STI trim levels."

Awww you got a link to that? I can't seem to find it.

Found it....

I think that is just for the $500 gift card and other incentives. I think you can still go through the program to get a discount, just not as much. If you are a member I would call them.

Ouch, maybe cause they are all sold.
