Default I bow to the almighty rally power of Pat Richard

I havn't figured out the whole story yet as I just got home, but he mast have lost time in a spin or something because he was pushing soooooo GD hard. There was absolutely no one more impressive at the 2001 LSPR! I made it to 6 stages and every time I saw him he was at 11/10, yet still finished. The HUGE air at brockway, the massive lurid drifts on 3 and 6, the unbelieveable cohones........ I have a new hero. I knew he was good but, jeeze! I feel sooo sorry for, yet completely jealous of Ben Bradley for getting to take that ride.

Congrats Pat on a hard earned 3rd overall, and hopes for many 1sts to come!

Nice one Pat. A top finish, you have deserved that after the recent DNF's. Hopefully its the start of many from now on.

Spectacular doesnt mean fast you know!
Only kidding.......

Whats next for you?

He's running another (possibly the same) Group N car at the Rally in Charlevoix next weekend. I guess the guy doesn't like to take time off Good job Pat, now all you've gotta do is stomp McGeer in his open car with that Gr N car and we'll be bowing down for sure

I think Pat will be driving the Production GT WRX for Subaru Canada in Charlevoix. A PGT car taking an overall win would be a sight to see.

In retrospect I feel kinda funny posting this on a forum I know Pat frequents........... But what the hell, it's how I feel! It's not even just the spectacular nature of his driving. It's the utter smoothness he combined with the speed that impressed.

Lovell is smooth, no doubt, but his speed leaves something to be desired for the spectator.

Millen is a absolute riot to watch. Very impressive drive!

Scheible was unusually flashy. Actually quite fun to see. Must have been the combination of having Grp. N locked and running in open.

Didn't even get to see any of the Tibs much. Only Tuthill made the start and didn't make it much past the night stages.

Infact, many "big" names DNS'ed of DNF'ed early.

But Pat, oh Pat, My only quam is I wish they had put a paint job on that car. I get sooo sick of plain white cars. How he made it to the finish driving like that, I dunno.

Also I wat to shoot out a special thanks to Axiochus for leading my butt all over the UP. I couldn't find my own arse in the woods without a proper navigator!

Well, he's listed in the registration for Charlevoix as driving a P4 car, but this is a snippet from a LSPR press release, as posted on http://www.specialstage.com:

"Subaru Rally Team Canada drivers Tom McGeer and Patrick Richard have crossed the border to mix it up with their counterparts on the US team. Richard will be driving an Impreza in Group N trim, and is using this event as a primer for his Canadian Group N debut at Rally Charlevoix in two weeks. "

I guess we'll have to wait to see if Pat can confirm the situation.

Don't you just love gossip. Motorsport at its best. Keep 'em guessing.

Great if he's in Group N. Even better if he's in PGT and takes 1st overall . Scary fast if he's in Open.

FWIW, the official results that I saw had him listed in Group N. That's scary.

Pat actually set three records at Brockway: fastest run ever, longest distance jumped, and second longest distance jumped - for the time he spent in the air AFTER HE FREAKIN' BOUNCED.

Pat doesn't just have big cojones, his nads are big enough to hollow out and live in, with plenty of storage, walk in closets, the works.

I ran into him a stage or two later and he described the flight as "sketchy", but I'll pretend that he intended to scare the living poo out of everyone on top of Brockway.

Again I missed my chance to buy Mr. Richard a beverage of his choice, since he was on the other side of the crush of people at the Library.

I was crewing for the car that set the distance record last year on Brockway (or tied supposedly) which resulted in shattered front suspension and numerous other goodies. We told him not to take it so hard this year because half his crew was gonna be on top of the hill and not available to replace destroyed suspension. Fortunately he almost had his off at that lookout point on the way up the hill and that kept him tame at the jump.

However, that kangaroo landing Pat did was horrifically impressive. Sorry Pat, but the Speedvision crew was right next to me and I don't think they got the whole escapade on film. I think they were caught in the moment too much However, one of the other crew members with me got a good picture of the underside of the car as it flew over

Hey DAUTHI and all

thanks for the props - it helps after such a hard season in the US this year.

Just so you know: why we were 'trying' so hard was because I went slow on Friday, and come Sat. morning, all of a sudden we had a shot at the podium that I wanted soooo bad - but couldn't afford to do anything too bad so had to be slightly careful. Anyhow, nice to know we made a good show !

Please send pics if you have any, I would like to see what it looked like...

Hopefully someday I will get another opportunity like this !

-Pat

I second that. It was more fun to go with an experienced rally spectator than to go it alone. And except for almost killing us on 26 to Brockway, he's also a pretty decent driver (I suck at navigating, though).

When's Sno-Drift?

Awwwwww. You guys are going to make me blush. Actually, it was a lot more fun with a small group than it would have been alone. So, thanks to you guys DAUTHI (and wife), Mike, and TeamHella (even if you don't drive a Scooby), for making it more enjoyable.

Mike,

Last year, Sno*Drift was the last weekend in January. It's nearly the same distance from Chicago as Houghton. It's also a lot slower, but spectacular in it's own right. I may volunteer to work it.

I'm off to get a fuel pump for the Omni... I just may make the trek to Arkansas.
