I guess 3k different in the 12 R1/R6.
Insurance is cheaper though, if you finance.
Just figured a used 600 would be much cheaper.

2 Tracks close to the DFW area if you are interested.

We also have a local street bike club I'm in. But they don't ride too much anymore, just a bunch of old racers that meet up for some beer every month.
I'd definitely be interested in hitting the track, I've never been to one and have always wanted to. Lemme know the next time you plan on heading out and I'll see what I've got free with my schedule.

I'm currently trying to start riding with the local area Triumph group. Seems like a nice bunch of folks, going to do a ride out to the Harvest Classic this month. On the down side I'm one of the only guys with a sport bike, seems cafe racers are in this year.

For the rest of the thread, I suppose 600s are cheap depending on what you call "cheap." My Street Triple brand new was only $10k, though the 2012+ ones are $12k for the R version. Unfortunately finding a used Triple is pretty tough as nobody seems to ever get rid of them.

I usually watch the weather and sign up a couple days out so if you already have everything you need to make it on the track then great! If not then you need to read this stuff.

http://www.ridesmart.info/
Look under "event requirements" on the left hand side.

You will need leathers, GP Boots, and GP Gloves and a good helmet to start.

Street bike will be taped up. (Headlights, mirrors etc etc.)

It is expensive upfront to get the right gear but once you get it you will be pretty set.
Feel free to PM with any questions or interest, you could come by our club meeting this month if you want to learn more.

Yeah it was a nice bike, I remember. Take care of it. Come watch me and Jc lose our races this year.

My goal is to come in top ten in each race. Not bad with like 40 bikes in one race and it being my first season.
