Default My subie is barely one month old....

...and thanks to some good ole reliable road debris, this happens.

Yea, I hate road debris

Anyway, as far as repairing the damage, I am I looking at a full on front bumper replacement or and do ya'll think it can be repaired without having to replace the entire front bumper?

What kind of road debris could you have run over without seeing it and do that much damage? Was there a bowling ball in the middle of the road or what?

lol...Looked like a long piece of tire material. Couldn't avoid it, it happened so fast. I was on the highway pulling into the left lane and boom!

The FSM has a bumper welding procedure (in my 09 STI manual its on EI-30) but it pretty much says not to bother with it due to it not being economical. Paying a body shop for a few man hours to do it is probably going to cost more than a new bumper cover.

You could get a plastic welding kit and try it yourself (you will need to paint the area afterwards), ignore it, or buy a new bumper.

If it really bothers you a new bumper is probably about $300 and getting it painted is about another $300. I did the same thing when my car was 3 months old and coughed up the cash for a new one.

Welcome to the club.

It has been a problem since the 11s. Mine cracked and then I got backed into so the whole bumper was replaced by insurance. Not 2 months later, the new one already had a crack.

I'd suck it up and get a new bumper. It would bother me to know that crack is there. With a new bumper you'll also know they won't do a "melt" which is painting only the part that was broken and then buffing the new clear to blend with the old clear. The melt will usually fail and start to peel away after time.

Funny almost same damage as mine 2 weeks AFTER I got my car. I was in SoCAL to visit too. Had to replace the front bumper , undertray and splash shield. I was so freaking mad. Couldn't avoid a semi-truck size torn tire flopping around Pomona fwy. It happened so fast . ugh
