Default Misfire After Timing Belt Replacement

2006 Subaru Forester XT.

Not a noob to doing these, BUT there is a first time for a mistake right? Did a timing belt change this past Sunday. First time restarting the fozzie it wouldn't start. Went back in to find that the belt/marks lined up - BUT it was green mark to white mark instead green on green/ white on white. Corrected this. Fozzie started, but idled rough (No CEL) I removed the neg from battery to reset ECU because many NASIOC posts suggested that it needed to relearn how to idle after replacement. Upon restarting after resetting the ECI we got a flashing CEL then it went solid. The codes I got were 4 engine misfire codes- one for each cylinder.

We plan on going back in to double check the timing belt ect. I'm wondering did we bork something up with the initial miss alignment even though the engine never started? What can we do to correct this issue? What are some things we are not thinking of? Any help would be appreciated.

it could have bent the valves on that side head. but with that big of a goof i would question the whole thing... take the belt off and re- time it properly.

If it's misaligned and you spin the engine over at all, valves can be bent. Doesn't matter if it ran, and the dtc for a bent valve can take a while. Check compression and leak down for each cylinder.

If compression and leak down is good then what?

If it ran fine before and now it doesn't, then either valves are bent or you didn't get something hooked back up solid/correct.

Right now, 3 of us are leaning to bent valves.
