read the manual. When you put the DCCD at full lock, your diffs will start binding much harder and much more noticeably.

Youre not supposed to use the 50/50 lock on dry pavement. Its called LOCK because it LOCKS the center differential, thats why you hear grinding when you turn the car. Use LOCK on snow, otherwise, leave it in AUTO.

some of you guys are just plain silly sometimes... you can lock the diff anytime you want ...but NOT when you TURN!!! when you lock it, it is like having both front tires are moving at the same rate. But wait if you are turning, theinside tire always turs faster!! if you keep doing this it will break!!!

actually, it's the outside ture that would turn faster. Although you do get the concept of what is actually happening, it's not quite that simple...

Would you drive a part time 4wd truck on dry road with all 4 wheels locked? I don't think you would.
Why do you think it would be a good idea to do that on your STi?

Technically neither turns faster hence the noises. The tires spinning at the same rate is what causes all the problems with the differential because they want to spin at different rates, but are not allowed. Not if you leave it in auto one will spin faster than the other.
