Default Tubocharger.com - Rebuilds

Anybody know about these Houston boys' rebuilds?
I'm having uber issues with my turbo (clackity clackity) and I'm trying to see if anyone has used them before. I'm trying hard to stay away from the dealership.

I'm not sure if I should rebuild my stock Tur(d)bo or go with a new aftermarket.

I've got an (08' wrx) and I've got crap for performance / acceleration
The customary *whoosh - pshow* sound has turned into a long frrrrrt sound accompanied by blue-ish smoke.

CPU codes have varied : p0011, p0021, p0304, p0302

Am I pissing in the wind by just having the turbo serviced/replaced? or is there more to the cam shaft issues - (0011,0021) and the missfires (03xx)

As far as the turbo, I would say upgrade if you're going to have to take it off to rebuild anyways. If you're taking it off, might as well get a vf52 or better. VF52's go for pretty cheap around here and are a pretty good upgrade considering how little potential the td04's have.

I appreciate the input, but would the coding go away or would I have to check on the '08 recall of the oil supply line?

There's still the issue of the cams stuck in advanced timing and the smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Any idea where to begin with those issues? My concern mainly is driving the car for too long while this is going on. I wish it wasn't my daily driver, but it is and my family can't go without the damn thing for too long.

I will definitely give the option of upgrading a long hard thought. Thanks

I've never had a good experience at turbochargers.com - I'd avoid them.

Plenty of other sources for replacement turbos, like this here TXIC classified section. Turbochargers.com has garbage QC and their guy openly admits they cannot get good quality center cartridges.

Stock turbos are not worth repairing (or upgrading IMO). Factory 2.5L really matches well with an 18G turbo. Step up to a 20G for more top-end but you will sacrifice some low-end grunt. Bigger than those and the supporting mods start adding up fast.

Your issues could be related to blown turbo seal pouring oil into your intake tract. Sounds like you have something more serious going on.

Its probably cheaper (think of the free peace of mind) to buy a new one, sell the old.

Plus you can use it as an excuse to upgrade

Well the timing remains advanced and I'm looking for a replacement turbo that won't break the bank or require tuning, I havent managed to sell enough body parts for a COBB soooo... I've been looking at a replacement VF-52 and getting replacement part /tuning estimates...

vf-52 and open source tune and youre going to come out better than replacing or wasting money on rebuilding it.

Idea may be to send it into BNR. He's done great in my book. Cobb in Plano likes his work too.
