Full Edmunds blurb:

Los Angeles Auto Show: 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe

LOS ANGELES - Nissan today pulled the covers back on its redesigned 2009 370Z Coupe, which formally debuts November 19 at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Inside Line brought you details of the sixth-generation Z-car nearly two weeks ago, including our educated guess that the new, shorter Z will share its 3.7-liter VQ engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with the latest incarnations of the Infiniti G37 coupe and sedan.

Although we've been privy to several rounds of spy photos, this is the first official look at the 370Z's uncamouflaged sheet metal, plus production-ready cabin.

The architecture of the interior is familiar, as the steering wheel is mounted on a movable pod and there are three small instruments on top of the dash, but the cheap, hard plastic of the current Z-car has mercifully disappeared.

This is the first significant overhaul of the Z since the fifth-generation model was introduced in 2003. U.S. sales begin in early 2009, and a 370Z convertible is also expected for the 2010 model year.

Inside Line says: A full list of the 370Z's final production specs will be revealed at the L.A. show. - Paul Lienert, Correspondent

The back end reminds me of a porsche.

Looks good, but I'm not sure why they keep putting those weird door handles on. They looked tacked on.

I can see GTR influenced lines in the side windows, where there is a hard corner at the top of the A-pillar. Uhhh... I think...

finally the right cues were taken from the original 240Z. It looks great, besides the maxima style lights which i'll probably get used to. Definite thumbs up!

Much better, now just round out the quarter-panel window, and fix the door handle and you can go work for Nissan.

The 7 speed automatic is new, but on the Edmunds.com link, it says:

Transmission options for the new Z include a six-speed manual (pictured) or a seven-speed automatic.

ehh, looks alright (in the pics for now, that is). The front looks pretty nice. Interior is really really nice! but the rear.................. maybe it will grow on me when I see better pics and see it in person. But overall, im really liking the profile of the car and the interior. I cant wait to see the model with the different body kit/wing/wheels.

Yep. And I think that is a horrible design element.

That's why I asked. What I read on this site (didn't click through the link) and the pics didn't match up. Didn't know if they were trying for a fancy "auto with a manual looking selector" deal.

That's the first Nissan design in years that I really like. I hated that stupid headlamp design in the Maxima, but here somehow it works.

You can see the heritage of the 240/260/280 series. And since I still have an '83 280zx, I love it.............!
