Default The cops are at it again...watch out

Was driving home via the 303 and noticed someone pulled over. Drove another half-mile and there was someone getting lit up. Drove about another mile, and there was another cop just sitting on a side street waiting to pull out onto the highway...but my detector was silent. As I drive on, considering the purchase of a better detector, I notice a car (late 90s, green, dodge stratus/pontiac or something) on the side of the road with the hood up, and a guy standing in front of it. I think to myself...sheesh, we've got three cops over there pulling people over and this guy is stuck on the side of the road with no one but passing motorists (going 50+) whizzing by. Then the detector goes off, and I look back at the guy. It's a cop wearing blue jeans and a polo...with a radar gun and a radio strapped to his shoulder. We pay officers to keep us safe, not collect money. I agree, that enforcing traffic laws and maintaining speed can help keep roads safe, but it takes one guy planted on the top of a hill to do that.

Using Police as a form of revenue generation bothers me. It does not make sense that we pay their salary, only to have them be used to take money from us. I've been seeing it in Phoenix and in Surprise. Does anyone know how Phoenix is ranked nationally for crime?

I agree, but if people weren't speeding, the cops wouldn't gravitate towards certain areas. Someone a while back was complaining about all the accidents on the 303...

I got pulled over not to long ago in the very early hours (0415) of the morning and when the officer asked "do you know why I am pulling you over" my reply was "yeah, I was going 10 over" but my radar detector didn't go off and he said "nope! do you have your cat on or off and be honest because I am going to look" and I said "I only have a cbe" and by that time he was bending down with his flashlight on. Mind you the Greddy Ti is louder than most so I guess he thought he was going to issue a nice fine. He then said "slown down a bit and have a great day". He didn't want to see my lisc, reg or ins. I haven't heard of anyone else getting pulled over for a cat inspection. This was in Gilbert.

My wife was going 10 over down gilbert road. An off duty cop in his off duty car followed her into a store parking lot, parked his car behind hers, and stood outside of his car waiting for her to get out. After a while of standing there, he finally approached her and showed a badge. When she cracked her window, he told her she was driving too fast, she needs to slow down, and he's doing her a favor by not calling an on-duty officer.

I really like that they do stuff like this though.

We have a major backroad that everyone takes to work, being worked on in my city, and the speed limit is 25 due to workers, and it used to be 45 and everyone would go 60. I just go 27, and there are cops on the road all the time, and people will honk at me and ride my bumper, but they get pulled over for following too closely. or something similar.
It has happened to me twice that someone has gotton pulled over behind me.
Haha.

I had a POS officer pull a little sneaky trick on me the other day too. I was coming back from lunch going to work on 25th ave and peoria. The posted speed limit on 25th ave here is 40 and I was going 38. Now the road makes a small little curve right befor I have to turn right. On that little yellow signs that say curve ahead it said 25MPH. So this bike cop hiding behind a bush pulled out and wrote me a ticket for 40 in a 25. First off thats just BS, second isn't this just a suggestion not a posted limit if its on one of the yellow signs. . I hate cops. Im going to paint a huge sign on the court house that says F*ck The Police.
