yeah I hear that. it's really hard to capture car audio. I've tried it on my phone and on a go pro and it just doesn't do it justice. I really want to hear what that EWG setup sounds like though! :]

Yeah, I had the windows down, so it ended up being mostly outside noise. I think with the windows up and a real camera I might be able to get some decent audio.

Uploaded two videos
The first is my car on the dyno (before the EWG install): The next one is a quick clip of the EWG opening up: |

so you think there is any chance your car wont blow up from that amount of power or do you want it to so you can rebuild and make more power?

I want it to last long enough so that I can get a built short block finished and drop it in on my own time (instead of being forced to do it when it blows up). We'll see if it lasts that long. Right now I am running it pretty conservative. Around 20psi of boost. Probably is making similar peak torque to the VF52, possibly even less. The high end is definitely stronger, but hopefully not too much more so.

Here are some installed shots of the EWG. As you can see, there isn't a lot of room, but the GrimmSpeed uppipe makes it all fit perfectly!

That is awesome! There's no way the video does the EWG any justice compared to real life. Any concerns in MN w/ the atmospheric dump? I know here in CA you'll get pulled over and refereed in no time.

I knew I forgot something. I don't really have any friends to help me make a flyby video, so you might not see one for a while...

Any problems degrading life of the cv boot with so much heat around?

It is not super close to the CV boot, it kind of goes next to it. And all the dumped exhaust will already be past the boot when it exits, but I do agree that it probably adds more heat than it would normally see. But people have been running GrimmSpeed EWG uppipes for a long time without any problems, so I think it should be fine.

That dyno run is with E85 right? Do you have headers?

Great work, love the setup... I think you're fine due to the inherent knock resistance using E85, more-so over a similar 93 tune. Are you making boost significantly faster from the EWG or was it more peace of mind? Good work... I'm definitely Jealous!

Yes, E85. Yes, I have headers, stock ones. And the GrimmSpeed crosspipe.
EWG was mainly to deal with boost creep issues. Spool seems similar? I think it does make more top end with the same boost though |

Removed the backseat to head to the track for the last Sport Compacts Drag event of the year. Removal is quite easy. Probably takes 10-20 minutes or so. Only 5 bolts and 1 nut to remove.
Did one shakedown pass at the track and everything seemed to be going to fine. Went for the real deal on the second pass and the car blew up. Went home on a flatbed. I don't think the car liked the redline launches |
