Be adding wiring hell, or aftermarket ECU in those thoughts. Also, I don't know my trim levels that well, 3.3 3.0 or 3.6?

Took the car down the street and back today, misfire in cylinder 2, header hasn't changed color at all, but it drove fine. Exhaust shop probably next week for a custom Y-pipe and the cylinder 2 issue and it will be good to go I think. Still a few minor issues to work out, like one of the VVT solenoids had it's connector broken off when I got the engine. I still need to trim up the wiring harness, but that will come with a later project when I pull the whole dash. I need to find a viscous R160 rear diff from an 05 legacy to pair with my trans. Overall I'm about done with the conversion.

Just a note, lime green text on light grey background is very hard to read. Might I suggest blue or dark green, perhaps?

I basically dont have a thermostat, I cut the arches and spring assembly out of one so the housing would seal and not leak. Thats probably how I'm going to run for now. I've been driving the car the last few days and love it, but it desperately needs a tune. The Haltech basemap got the engine running, but I'm not running at my best.

Ok, question for anyone who feels like they get the Subaru wiring diagrams...

https://photos.app.goo.gl/hDPeaiv21numpaEs6

Does that not make it look like the fans are 24v? Do you see a way(or already know of a way) to wire them with just two wires from dedicated relays, or would I really have to choose to either recreate this set up or buy AM fans?

Background if it's needed, these fans came off of an 03 outback wagon with a metal intake EZ30. They came with the radiator I bought, and I'd like to get them spinning instead of spending more money on AM fans if I can.

Hi everyone,

What are you guys running your swaps with ECU-wise?

Pretty soon I'm going to attempt running a H6 with Megasquirt 3 Pro - I'm pretty surprised there's no ECU talk here - anyone running a Megasquirt 3? (Basically I'm looking for companions to help me along this journey which I'll document so future ECU conversions will be a day's task)

I got into ECU related "programming" a while ago, basically checked whether there's any room for innovation, and what actually "tuning" is, wrote some tools in Node/JS that parse the binary data - the sad part is, most of the existing knowledge doesn't apply to what I'm attempting to do - the stock H6 ECU has no turbo logic, and 80% of tuning is actually making the most out of the Turbo's (it seemed to me)

I'm running a Haltech sorry, but I do hope you're serious about documenting your process. I at least appreciate shared knowledge.

I did find useful info/posts on a Megasquirt forum re. EZ30, so don't give up on that. Also look up Wayne at Very Cool Parts.
I too am using a Haltech (2500) to run my EZ30R install (in an 818S).
Regarding schematics- no, the fans don't get +24V. There are 2 +12V inputs each for 2 speeds. I wired only the high speed circuits using the 2 spare relays in the Haltech fuse block. I can share schematics, mark-up's of Subaru schematics, and Haltech diagram (and map) via PM.
Yes, getting the cooling system burped of air and flowing was much harder than I expected. While I have a long run to the rad., the total system is minimized, and I have a definite high point at the cap, it still took work to get burped. 'Works great now though!

I am bailing on my original ecu plan and looking at alternatives, with Emtron being one of them which I have seen mentioned here in other peoples list.

What I don't see is the ability for 2 cam sync and 1 crank sync, is there duel purposed inputs or an build time option that allows for 3 sync's?

Edit - Or are the cam syncs using the digital inputs?

Thanks,
-Jacob

Your best bet might be to try contact the ECU manufacturer with your question. The Haltech forum, and actually Matt himself, was the one who actually helped me fix the problem that got my car running. Give the manufacturer a chance to help you out. Otherwise, get a Haltech(bring on the fire, I expect people to complain), at least the Haltech forums are active, and there are a few of us who run them on our EZ30s already.

I spoke with Nick Pavloski of Emtron today, and the first 3 digital inputs can be used as additional cam sync's. Software looks pretty good and if anyone else is shopping around id give it a look

KHANNN,

The Megasquirt 3x / pro are a good choice for the EZ30. It already supports the 36-2-2-2 trigger wheel. You just need to wire up the crank and cam sensors. Both cam sensors are required for proper AVCS. The AVLS you can do with a basic high current output.

Everything else should be plugging in numbers and crimping wires. MAF support is also really good on MS which mean more consistency over temp/baro/humidity for daily drivers. Also they recently added DBW support which is fantastic.

PM me if you have any questions about MS
