Default Gear Oil on Carpet

So like the title says i didnt realize till it was way way way too late. i was hauling some gear oil that was left over at the rents house and apperently one of the caps wasnt on so well and tipped over and spilled almost all of the oil in the back on the carpet, it was a 1qt bottle i tried getting most of it out with a towel...man does it ever smell...kinda gives me a high then a headache lol...

How do i get this stuff out of the carpet and the smell out of the car?

I will be taking the carpet out once i get home.

youre gonna be going NUTS trying to get that stuff out AND the smell

thats the worst smell in the world.

if youre taking the carpet out, you should just buy a carpet on the forums. 02 wrx carpets go for no more than 50 bucks. you'll save your self a huge headache.

^^^^ ....I would definitely consider replacing it if your removing it anyway. Another option may be an effective APC and a pressure washer. That is one smell you never forget.

Pull out carpet, pour acetone all over area until it drains clean, powerwash, dry, re-install. 90 weight smells like butt.

Yeah you will have to pull the carpet out. I was hauling a transmission in the back of my beater car and some gear oil leaked out. Its been atleast 6 months and it still stinks.
