Default cobb accessport and DEQ

I tried searching this topic but found nothing so I'm hoping I can get some help.

I have a '12 WRX and recently purchased a Cobb Accessport. Everything is stock except for the stage 1 map (91 Octane).

I am wondering if I will pass Oregon DEQ running the stage 1 map or do I need to uninstall the Accessport to pass (assuming everything is functioning normal on the car).

I am no where close to needing to go to Oregon DEQ but have been trying to organize myself and think ahead (like uninstalling the Accessport before any service at the dealership).

Thanks for the help!

Subaru made the stock map run lean in order to pass emissions. If I were you, I'd put the stock map back on before getting tested.

Edited: Read the OP wrong... thought he was talking about getting parts fixed for some reason

Where did you ever hear they check "log data?" The dealerships won't check your ECU unless you are going in there with a engine problem, CEL, or anything like that. You go in for an oil change or alignment and they aren't like "ok before we align the tires let's make sure it wasn't tuned, because that will effect the alignment."
Also your ECU doesn't "log" data, that's why you have the AP. at most your ECU has a single value counter that ticks up every time it's flashed. And even that is highly debated here.

Check your facts before you post. The AP and if dealerships can tell has been discussed to death here. Search it.

As for the OP since this is mainly for Oregon and 90% of the people in general will have no idea what your emission laws are, this topic is better suited for your regional forum.

As for trying to pass, it takes a couple minutes to uninstall the AP and a couple more to install. Would it be that big of a deal to do that just for the peace if mind of passing?

Yes, the AP and dealership discussion has been discussed to death! No need to discuss more.

Uninstalling the AP for DEQ is no big deal...I was more wondering if running a map changes things enough in the ECU to make the car not pass. Before I bought the AP I was talking with someone at Cobb Surgeline and they said DEQ was not an issue...I am planning on calling them to ask my question but also wanted to get other opinions in addition to Cobb.

Ok I see more or less where you are coming from and what you are wanting. As for passing the test that would require first hand knowledge and I can't help you there.

Glad you did some research before you bought the AP. Very few people do that anymore. I would agree that calling Cobb is your best bet and I would trust them 100% over the opinions of random people here. Only way I would trust anyone's input is if they personally did the Oregon DEQ test with Cobb stage 1 and passed. Anything else is just guessing and means nothing.

Best of luck though.

I HIGHLY doubt a stage 1 flash from any tuner will make you fail the test. Most people still pass their emissions tests (not necessarily in Oregon, just in general) when stage 2 with a catted downpipe. With the stock downpipe and its multitude of incredibly restrictive cats, you'd have to screw something way up in order to not pass most emissions tests.

They only smog pre 1996 cars in most states. Now a days they just plug into your ecu and look for error codes. No codes = pass. Easy. Stg1 isn't going to cause you to fail, error codes will cause you to fail.

I knew it was just plugging in. Just wasn't sure if the flash to the stage 1 map would change some parameters to make the car not pass. On another thread I was told if the check engine light is off then there are no codes and it'll pass.
