Default Hit and Run.... Again

Wow so today at work I discover someone had backed there big POS truck into me and Fed up my front bumper... This is the 2nd hit and run on the poor scoob. Last one was at a restaurant when I was eating and was a truck also. That time was a crease and dent on the passenger side back door. This one seems to be a lot worse. It looks like they back into it and they had a high bumper (truck) it contacted the top of the bumper and pushed the driver side headlight inwards popping the front drivers side panel at a funny angle.

I got some pics. The front bumper had some cracks around the passenger side foglight from the previous owner so I planned on changing the front bumper at some point. Before this all the lines around the edges were good. Now the driver side lines are all spread and off. I am thinking I will need a new bumper, new driver side panel, and possible new headlight. I have never done a lot of body work so my terminology may be a bit off. Would there be supports that will need replacing also or is it all build into the panels and connected with fasteners?

Pics:

Man the poor scoob. I swear people in the parking lot hit it with doors and drag bags across it on purpose just because I clean it and try to keep it looking relatively nice. I am in the process of getting a new job and will have some more money to throw at it. Something I really want to do is get the paint fixed on it. Most of the clear has eaten off. The car has lived in Texas sun its entire life. I want to get all the body stuff corrected before I get an estimate to have all the paint touched up and re-cleared. If possible I would like to buy parts and have them painted as far as the bumper goes. I should be able to do all the install work myself.

Thoughts on what all I need to replace and any estimate on what this may cost? Thanks

Wow that sucks man. Hope karma will get that SOB.

For your headlights have you tried just using polish on them? I did mine with an ultra-fine swirl remover and it worked awesome but they weren't as bad as yours.

last time I just used a cheap harbor freight restore kit. I have some Plastx. I was thinking of getting a kit and using the plastx instead. I do have some chemical guys fine swirl remover may need to give it a shot.

When it rains it pours lol, I was already in the midst of having a leaky water pump I have to replace. Not looking forward to pulling the timing belt. Now I have to get thsi damage fixed. I am thinking of taking it by the subaru collision place and getting an estimate.

You call that a hit and run?

This is a hit and run...

I do. I park at the extreme back of my work parking lot. Still happened. I have seen entire empty rows and someone will pull up and park right next to me. All I can do is facepalm...
One day I was walking out to my car and I saw another wrx pull up next to it like driving towards the side of my car wrong direction through the lines on the lot. He stopped by my car circled it, stopped by it again looking at it. Finally I guess he noticed me walking towards him and just burned off. No idea what that was all about. I never am surprised by how incredibly stupid people are anymore.

It was actually a drunk driver. They ran a red light and almost t-boned us but in a panic I turned the car to the left to avoid it and he clipped the entire right side of the car. He tried to run but I quickly got behind him to get the plate number then waited for the cops.

The car has already been fully repaired. New rear bumper, front bumper, front passenger door, front passenger fender.

It looks better than it did before so I can't complain at this point.

Tell me about it. Even after 3 years, when we pull into a parking lot she always points at one of the front spots like I'd ever even consider it. We get plenty of exercise.

I wouldn't even worry about fixing it. Let a couple weeks go by and you won't care anymore. You obviously don't care about your headlights anyway.

Not doing a headlight kit on my car in a while means I don't care about my car? lol guess I should just stop detailing it every weekend and doing preventive maintenance. Probably should just sell it eh?

Thanks! I need to change my water pump this weekend but next thing on the list is money for a new bumper. I dunno if i will have to change out that driver side headlight or not. It is kind of crushed into the adjoining panel. hopefully that can be bent back into place. Worst case I will swap that panel and the headlight also.
