Talking what do you think?

i have an option to pick up a stock V5-7 JDM 2.0 STi engine/trans/ECU(iirc thats all he has from the clip) with less than 45k miles. im not 100% sure what version as i've yet to lay eyes on it personally. its local and he is my brothers friend so i have options to buy!

-for about $1000 i get everything

-for $600-700 i get all except turbo and TMIC(i have 02WRX complete turbo and TMIC setup laying around

what do you think is better?

i know it'll be an STi with a smaller turbo and TMIC essentially(STi detuned to a WRX!). i do have a huge FMIC from my old silvia swap if i need bigger there.

but what is it gonna drive like w/o a tune or anything else done to it? i need to bolt it in and go unlike my V4 STi swap where it sat for 2 months undriveable. i can get some time off work. and i know i can have it out and in less than 8 hours with all fluids replaced, etc. so i know in a week it can be done easily. but im going for the weekend thing so i don't HAVE to take time off. but again, what is it gonna drive like? i don't want crappy driveability or weird on/off boost issues or CEL's for some odd reason.

i have a snap on scanner so it's not a big deal to check/clear codes before emissions either.

i was going to buy a 2.5 from jay storm last year but found the issue with my car before it puked its guts out on the road. it was around the same outlay with all said and done, so im debating what to do. i knwo most will say just do it! that's what i said before, but not sure if i should get it w/o turbo and TMIC.

HELP!
