!!! need help quick. Can you run a 215/45/17 tire on a 17x8 wheel?

The company im buying my rims through... only 17x8 wheel.

THe problem:

I already ordered tires that are 215/45/17, i was expecting a 7.5 whide wheel.

The question:

Can you run a 215/45/17 tire on a 17x8 wheel?

Let me know soon so i can call the vendor back!

Tire Rack's website recommends 225/45/17 on all 17" wheels, 7" to 8", so I would switch to that size to avoid problems.

They will fit but the tires will be stretched.

mm stretched.. my friend is running 215 on 9" wide tires.. but he has a 240
