That was what I was thinking. I was talking to one of the Cobb tuning guys and they were telling me that the waste gate would not physically be able to handle the boost and would lead to boost creep in my '07 WRX. not sure if he was trying to sell me on their catted down pipe or not.
I basically want to get to stage 2 safely. |

I'd say buy it at 150$. Sounds like a deal to me.
Is it just a short block or the whole long block with heads? |

Yeah, the turbo is worth 150$ if its still good. I'd say go for it, is it nearby?
Even junky heads are worth 100ish. |

I bet if you took the time and parted it out you could net a cool g off of it. Oh and the mounting ear he may just be talking about the trans mount bolts sheared off in the trans case in the accident. Last edited by RicersWetDream; 12-31-2012 at 11:41 AM. |

I'd love to use it in a car, but with the busted tranny mounting ear; i don't know what to do with that..

Since i'm full of questions; what's everyone's opinion: should i buy and rebuild a '03 2.0 wrx engine for my '99 RS. Or just take the turbo and try to put it on my RS?

Either of those options, in my opinion, don't last long. No one build engines like the factory, and turbo-ing a N/A engine is a ticking time bomb.
IMO I'd say the best way would be to find a low mile WRX swap and do a wiring harness merge. |

I should have clarified. The engine has 101k. I'd do a few things, like headgasket and timing belt, but not a full rebuild. My poor choice of words. What does the merge consist of exactly?

Oh, in that case I'd say go for the merge. The merge is quite extensive, but worth it IMO. You would send your harness and a WRX harness out to a wiring guy and he would do the merge for 300-400$ (I've heard of people doing them on their own but it involves ALOT of wiring experience). Then you buy a WRX ECU which are relatively cheap and plug it all in.
Is the engine you are thinking of buying complete with the fuel system, intake manifold, and heads, with all of the respective sensors? |

The guy I'm speaking with says that it has everything (sensors and accessories). Minus the harness i would assume. I use my car for travel to ohio and back every week for school so i'm going to need a pretty big gap in school to get that done!

Yeah, that's for sure! You might be able to find another RS harness that you could have sent out instead of yours. That's great the engine has everything.
