camber bolts in the rear... put them on if you want to be able to adjust them for competition. For street driving, I wouldn't worry about the rear camber.

bad toe kills tires not bad camber?
I installed springs on my car with almost dead tires so i decided against getting it aligned until i got new tires. i took the tires off and all 4 had MAJOR negative camber wear, the front is lowered 2 inches and the rear is lowered .7 inches. I put my stock wheels back on until i picked out a new tire and got my car aligned. after looking at the tires on the stock wheels after this alignment they seem to all be wearing evenly , even the rears which had no camber adjustment like all wrx's. is this because toe is the real reason for tire killage?
Before i put my new tires on do you guys think its worth getting camber bolts for the rear when its lowred less than an inch? |

bad toe kills tires not bad camber = true
Your tire wear issue is likely toe. How much wear you get from negative camber depends on how negative, and how you drive. Just the little increase you would get from .7 inches in the rear should make no difference at all. Drivers who corner hard are likely to wear the OUTSIDE of the tires if they don't have ENOUGH negative camber, though this is primarily true in front. For my setup, I've found setting camber at -1.5*F/-1.0*R, and toe at zero, rear yields a good balance and even tire wear. Your mileage may vary. |

Toe being out of spec causes wear much faster, but camber causes solid wear, also.

Bad camber does cause wear. I had -2 degree's on my old car with 0 toe and I killed my tires. Toe will help the process, but when you have more weight on the inside of the tire then the outside. Of course there will be uneven wear.

Strange................... you do realize that -1.7 to -1.8 camber in the rear is not uncommon for a stock WRX. I don't hear massive reports of excessive tire wear.
I run -2.0 camber and +0.02 toe in the front. -1.6 camber and +0.02 toe in the rear. About 5K, 2 autoX, and 2 hours of actual track time on my new Max performance summer tires. No wear issues to report. To be safe, one can simply swap tires from left to right unless the are a corner specific tire. |
