Default My WRX turned 18 this month

They grow up fast don't they? Hard to believe Mellow Yellow was manufactured 18 years ago (Feb 2001). Will be hitting 85,000 miles this week as well. Mildly upgraded with stage 2+ tune, Koni inserts, STI springs, and larger sway bars. Not sure if I will continue to upgrade slowly or leave as is.

Bought from the original owner a few miles away a couple years ago. He handed me a file with every single receipt and documentation of all maintainance. I'm continuing the file for the next owner. Also came with mint brochures, accessories brochures, and R&T, Car and Driver, and Automobile magazine supplements with road tests. Nice to have all those for reference.

From what I can tell Jan and Feb of 01 was when all were built as you said. No official number made from Subaru, but most say 450 with 50% 5 speed and 50% auto. I've resisted looking at 2 others that came up for sale near me in the last 2 years. Both were nice but higher mileage, 1 auto, and 1 a 5 speed. I resisted because knowing me I would have bought both. Mine was purchased the first week in April and according to the original owner it had just arrived at the dealer while he was trying to decide which color to buy. It has the STI short shifter, dash gauge pack, carbon fiber look inserts, 17 inch BBS wheels, compass mirror, center console extender, and security system.
I'm curious as to when the first 02's started being built. I'm guessing Dec of 2000, but I have no clue.

I have never seen another yellow WRX in the flesh but i am in the deep south and there just aren't a lot of older ones in my area.I haven't even come across a yellow one for sale(blaze or sonic) in my area either so i jumped on this one when it popped up on FB marketplace about 45 min away.My car also has the carbon fiber trim.Besides the under seat subwoofer though,it's pretty basic.I added the arm rest extender.Mine only has an up pipe as a "mod",if you want to call it that lol.

If you are interested, PM me your VINs and I can tell you the DAY your cars were built. Or, if worried, you can get someone at a dealership to do it.

Just keep in mind that there were 2 yellows offered.Blaze in 02 and Sonic in 03.There were 3x more Sonics made and that is probably the one you see more.I have never seen another yellow or a Sedona red however.

The earlier WRX yellow (blaze) looks a lot like the Primrose yellow from late 60's Jags, my father had a 69 Jag E-type. I like it a bit better than the Subaru Sonoc yellow.......Sonic looks too close to "school bus yellow"....

Hello all. I to also own a Blaze Yellow since new. Bought it new from showroom April of 2001. Date of manufacture was 01/01. 55000 miles to date. Great car, classic in my opinion. All have a great day.

Many didn't and still don't like the color, but I actually looked for one over all the other colors. I almost bought a Sonic Yellow wagon, but the Blaze Yellow came up for sale at the same time and looking at them both in one day I was sold on the Blaze Yellow. I did look for a Sedona Red as well later, and found one, but wanted a 5 speed so passed on it. I glad there some nice ones still around, they're getting pretty hard to find in nice shape (any color).
