I was going to button her up last night, but Erica's car needed a ton of repairs that ended up taking longer than expected.

Bummer. My wife and son left town for a few days so I can try to focus more on the GN. Ken, feel free to drop by and check out the progress if you're in the area.

Hey can you measure your laterals from end to end. Not eye to eye. I just need a overall length. So I can adjust mine.

Thanks!

Ken, I want a roof vent so bad now. The functionality of that thing is incredible. I thought it was mostly to have that "cool" JDM look or whatever, but man, that thing grabs air by the balls and throws it right in the cabin! Its amazing! I really could not believe that. Also couldnt believe how it amplified the turbo noise, my inner ricer wants it just for that. Unless it doesnt work with TD04's.

So, many of you saw the car out this past weekend at the FIR AZAWD meet. I spent all of last week busting my ass to get her buttoned up to a point where she was driveable. The hard work paid off and I was able to get her running by Thursday.

I took her in for an alignment, and after a few tweaks to the rear subframe positioning, they were able to get the alignment hooked up. I went with zero toe all around and 1.1 degrees of camber in the front and 2.0 degrees in the rear. The front was simply limited by the stock top hats. Also, the caster mod gave me a nice 5.1 degrees of caster in the front.

All I can say is that the guys at the SSC Auto Repair on Germann road know their stuff when it comes to alignments, even on heavily modified cars. They are friendly and helpful to boot. They are now my new alignment show of choice.

Now that the alignment is done, the car runs VERY nicely. She is so composed on the road and at speed. I am honestly impressed. All of the bushings have contributed to a fair amount of noise and vibration, but at no point have I felt that the setup is harsh. I am getting a nasty vibration at 65mph on deceleration, but it is not there at 60 or 70 so I just drive a bit faster or slower. I suspect it's the pitchstop mount. I will try swapping the Kartboy unit with a group-N unit and see what that gets me.

I don't have much order to these next pictures, I just thought that they might be interesting.

Here are my custom DIY spherical bearing endlinks. Each end cost about $9 from mcmaster carr or $18 per endlink. Add to that the cost of the bolt, nut and washers and you have yourself a very nice endlink for under $25. I made the black spacer/washers myself, but you can buy similar ones for a few bucks from various motorsports companies. I ended up making mine because I needed some strange sizes to allow me to fit my wagon sway bard to my sedan lat links and control arms. Assembly and install was a breeze.

I also ordered an STi rear diffuser like the one on the 06-07 STi's. I'm not sure why I did this mod except for the fact that it was fairly cheap, looks cool, and many guys are reporting a 1 to 2 mpg gain when installing these in tandem with the other STi under panels (which I also have ready to install). The whole kit is about $62-68 bucks from ShopSubaruParts.com and I think you could do it for cheaper if you made your own mounts out of washers or something. Many guys have done that with great results. I bought the metal mounting brackets like those welded on the STi chassis. They were like $3 a piece or something so I figured why not.

I first installed the rear bracket that affixes to the rear pinch seam. The holes were already there, they just needed to be opened up with a drill bit first.

Next, I temporarily affixed the diffuser and held it in place while I marked the hole locations on the spare tire well. After that was complete, I drilled holes in the mounting brackets (because I was bolting them instead of welding them), painted them black, and lined them up with the holes marked on the spare tire well. Then it was a simple matter of marking the bracket mounting holes on the spare tire well and drilling the holes.

I used some small stainless bolts to hold everything in place. Then I installed the rear diffuser.

The results look pretty good except it really doesn't compare to the looks of an APR unit. Oh well, I hope to find a used one some day. Also, it blocks my sweet green lat links and polished diff cover.

Lastly, I installed my eBay rip-off V-limited front lip, a set of JDM STi grilles (wire mesh vs crappy USDM plastic) and fine cut/polished/waxed the entire car. So fresh, so clean!

I should be getting some much better pictures here soon when KP has a chance to work his magic on it.

Still don't have the parts back. That's all. ARP bolts that I need are on backorder. I was hoping to get the motor in by next week, but that's not happening. By the time I get it back together it will be too hot for me to want to drive it. Just thinking about it pisses me off.
