Nope. They sold high in their native state and come here and spend less and get a McMansion. A pack of them herded out and just like the crackers, they're followers and not leaders and the majority just followed. I don't think people understand how large of a migration this was. They've likewise invaded Boise, Nashville, Salt Lake City and their trying to change each of these places into Kali 2.0. GTFO. It's real bad here. So many of these people have their noses in the air, drive like *****, have a "deal with it" attitude. They've screwed our property prices and taxes. Some will go back. But considering many of them didn't get in the ocean or nature and enjoy the climate, they just super consume, if people move back it will be the minority of the colonizers.

![]() Honda has done this before when they needed product fast. The first Honda Passport was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo (which didn't have a great reputation at the time). I'm sure Honda will use it as a learning opportunity before releasing their own design.

The town I liven in has been overrun by outsiders for the last 50 years to the point almost no one is from State College. The vast majority of our population including myself are from somewhere else, another state, another nation whatever. On the other hand, the little town I am from In Illinois does not have that problem, no one wants to go there. The down side is nothing has changed really in the 30 years I have been gone, dead town trying to find a soul. If people want to come to your town and build something your town will have life, good bad and ugly. But it will have life and people will spend money and do things. If no one wants to come to your town, it is probably a place you would not want to be either. As far as melting pot goes I hear you, but that just is not the way it works, look at the way it used to be, China Towns, little Italys etc. People used to move into a neighborhood of people that looked and sounded like themselves. They did not integrate they made their own little version of where they were from. Now we just move and bring our values with us and live where we want in most cases. ![]() Why target “ boomers”? As the post just preceding yours suggested, this behavior has existed for generations before, and will likely trend into generations after.

![]() because younger generations, on average, are more accepting of people different than themselves. boomer has turned into more of a way to identify a mentality rather than an actual age-identifying descriptor, if you haven't been paying attention.

I don't agree with this. Kali people move here and instantly Austin banned plastic sacks at the grocery store. Nevermind the same grocery stores ask you recycle them when you come back. TX has a rich history of both good and bad, but you move here and want the Kali gun laws here, ummm no. I'm not a boomer, I just can actually think. Don't move here with your narcissism, and try to change it into Kali 2.0. GTFO out of here. All that you posed above is absolute nonsense. I once moved to the Seattle area for my career. The company I worked for in TX, the HQ was Redmond/Bothell area. I didn't try to change the place into TX. I realized the lifestyle wasn't for me and left. All these people move here and I have many people at work who can't find affordable housing. Instead of 20 mins out or 30 mins, they are having to look an hour out or more. I couldn't even afford to buy the house I live in today. Next is the property tax increases, it sucks. I was recently looking at 1.5 million dollar property in Maui and I'm paying the same amount in annual taxes as a 1.5 million dollar property in Maui! Holy F! Then there is the traffic here now. Dude, if I wanted to drive in terror congestion bumper to bumper smogville I'd move to Los Angeles. This has nothing to do with Italians, the Irish, the Chinese or any ethnicity. Spare the woke bs for someone else. We have a large number of Indian, dot not feathers, community here and they melt into the place better than Kalifornians. When I lived in Seattle the natives were equally as pissed at the Kali colonizers that moved up there as well as the Microsoft millionaires. Both f'd their real estate market three ways to Sunday too. That's a largely liberal base up there and they b'd incessantly while I lived there. Few want to deal with heavily increased traffic, property prices and taxes just so some @$$holes can invade. I'll deal with it. I'm only here for the next few years and I'll be leaving the state because of it. never would have thought I'd be driven out of my home state by this but it's here. I'll be heading to a place these same people know zero about in a remote area. Bye bitches. |

![]() Texas was my 3rd choice after Massachusetts (currently live with buddies) and northern California (family). I love Austin and Dallas areas (various friends and connects). I didn't know about the Californians migrating there. Kinda ew.

Population of the US has gone up roughly 45% in the last 40 years (I found 226 million in 1980, 328 million in 2020) - that's a LOT of additional bodies that gotta live somewhere. So, prices go up. Value of my house has almost doubled in the last 15 years. As far as people moving to a desirable area (Austin) and changing it to be more the way they want and make it too expensive for some to stay - some would say that's just capitalism / the market in action. Are you saying they SHOULDN'T be allowed to do that? |

![]() From what I understand this is a N&R forum.
But I suppose 'slightly behind' is in the thread title and there are no more mods at this joint. |

https://www.bing.com/search?q=boomer...d226f9c2834103 Apparently the internet isn't paying attention either. Your stereotyping of a mentality to a generation as being less accepting of others is wrought with hypocrisy. That a prejudice is so deep seeded that it has turned a generational label to be synonymous with pejorative for close mindedness is disturbing. Alas, history would suggest otherwise. The legal and social changes brought about by this generation were profound. Perhaps we can get back to the shared interest at hand without the insults? |

And as far as hill start assist. I dont want it and I dont need it. I never found it to bother me in my Focus ST or in any of my Civic Sis (10th and 9th gens). But Subaru found a way to implement it to annoy me to death. It engages the brake anytime I am stopped at a redlight that has any kind of incline or none at all. Like these stops have an incline so negligible that the cars wont roll back in neutral. Or if they do you would hit the car behind you in a few hours. I disabled my hill start assist on my WRX and I dont stall at red lights anymore or burn the clutch trying to just do an easy takeoff. It wouldnt be bad if it didnt make driving worse and less fun. |

![]() I don't trust the hill assist "feature". I unconsciously reach for the hand brake every time I come to a full stop. It's befuddling when I drive an automatic.
