Volkswagen reports October sales down 2% over a year ago.

BMW sales totaled 25,440 vehicles in October 2019, an increase of 9.

4 percent over the 23,262 vehicles sold in October 2018. Year-to-date, BMW sales in the U.S. are up 3.8 percent.

Through October, BMW Sports Actvity Vehicles have driven growth in the U.S. and currently account for 57% of sales. Increased availability of the U.S-built BMW X3 (+18.3% YTD) and BMW X5 (+27.6% YTD), and the addition of the BMW X7, have contributed to the positive gains.

“Since the start of 2018 we have introduced more than 40 new and refreshed models to market. We will add to this total at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month when we debut several more, ranging from the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and M2 CS, to electrified variants of two of our most important models, the BMW X3 and BMW 3 Series,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “This range and the diversity of our product lineup not only provides our customers with choices, but enables us to fulfill their needs and be truly customer centric.”

For October, MINI USA reported 2,962 vehicles sold, a decrease of 6.4 percent from the 3,166 in the same month a year ago.
BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles
BMW Certified Pre-Owned sold 10,185 vehicles, an increase of 12.3 percent from October 2018.
Total BMW Pre-Owned sold 22,033 vehicles, an increase of 18.3 percent from October 2018.
MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles
MINI Certified Pre-Owned sold 877 vehicles, a decrease of 10.8 percent from October 2018.
Total MINI Pre-Owned sold 2,154 vehicles, a decrease of 6.5 percent from October 2018.

No surprise Golf R sales are up and GTI sales are down.

They brought in a lot more Golf Rs this year to sell, last year most were gone by this time.

GTIs havent sold because NO incentives this year.

It will be interesting to see how it changes as their 6yr/72mo warranty ends with this model year.

There are still incentives on 19 gti's, like 5 grand off on them.

I expect the 2020 sales to go even lower for sure, mk8 is right around the corner and for 2020 they deleted the rabbit line, deleted the great falls green color, deleted night blue metallic and removed the 6 year 72 warranty. Didn't add any new colors or anything

There aren't any incentives listed on VW outside of the military and student discounts. Its probably just your local dealer discounting them.

I wouldn't have bought my R without it... so I'm guessing it'll effect sales.

Although with the loss of the FoRS from the market, and the fact that Subaru is so set on sedans, the R becomes the only awd hot-hatch left in the US market.

no more R for 2020 in US, have to wait for the mk8 to come. Canada has reported from VW that they won't get the mk8 until mid year 2021. I would imagine US would be the same, hopefully not

This is why I pulled the trigger. A lot can happen before then. Maybe VW decides performance cars are more defined in the CUV segment by then.

I would happily accept the drivetrain out of the R and put in my Tiggy. It handles most unexpectedly for what it is.

I wonder if the stalling issue on GTI and buying back of new cars has hurt GTI sales.

Do you have the 1st/2nd gen "small" one or that big bloated monstrosity they sell now?

I personally loved the smaller one, it was honestly the perfect size. Not awfully small like these new tiny useless SUVs (Ecosport, Trax, CX3), but not big like the modern semi-compact ones they sell (RAV4, Forester, CRV). Still enough room for whatever you needed, but not overly big and it came with an underrated 200hp turbo engine and the same Golf R AWD. Such a shame it wasn't that big of a success for whatever reason.
