So Iíve been fine tuning the tune on the car.

Before I did that I took the entire inlet off and refitting it just going over everything again including rerouting my boost gauge hose etc.

Tonight whilst dialing in the bcs tuning I was surprised to see the car hit 24psi at 3500rpm in 4th gear.

Itís also hitting a peak of 4.63 g/rev load now in third at 4250rpm which is mighty impressive for me!

Iím running about 17 degrees timing @ peak torque and 25 degrees at redline. Which is getting up there on stock headstuds so will probably leave it at that or maybe try push it to 25psi with the same timing and see how we go.

Iím loving this blouch 1.5xtr twin scroll - amazing street turbo for up to 400whp in my view

I pulled the manifold and fuel system off and redid it all. Painted the manifold which was a little tired, put the radium fuel rails in, all AN fittings and braided fuel lines in series setup, with a turbo smart 1200fpr

Also painted the intake pipe matt black for a cleaner look.

And painted the sti badge on the Intercooler with a stencil.

Found out infact the intercooler I have is not a GRB but from a VA sti which is slightly more efficient from what Iíve read (nothing to really make a real difference)

Iím still loving the way the car drives overall.

I did also recently buy another gc8 that has a 320kw atw 2.5 forged build etc with audm sti 6 speed and r180/ brembos etc. that thing is completely different to drive to mine but makes it fun to jump in and out of the two setups.

Iíve also started sourcing parts for a 2.1 stroker setup. Using big port jdm t20 avcs heads.

Bought a set of tomei poncams and a brand new nitrited ej257 79mm crank. Now souring the w20 thick walled Grb ej207 case halves (brand new) and arp 625 headstuds to complete the setup. This will probably go in later this calendar year. Will update as I go

Enough words here are some pics:

Too hard to compare. But I certainly feel the heat soak with the tmic when sitting in traffic (I hardly drive it but itís noticeable in traffic)

Once I get moving though itís fine.

You can definitely feel the off idle torque of the 2.5 vs the 2.0 though. Itís not so much the wot as theyíre quite comparable even from a dig (due to the avcs and twin scroll on the ej207) but putting around and just cruising, the 2.5 is a lot more effortless - most certainly aided by the 3.90 fd gearing too vs the 3.54 on the ej207 car

hey there Mick, i'm new here.
really love your project, keep it going.
i just wanted to ask.... 2.5 obviously has the advantage in what you've mentioned, nonetheless, isn't it more expensive? thanks

Thanks mate

What do you mean by more expensive? To build The engine? If so then yes definitely.

very nice Mick, was wondering what you were up to. It's fantastic to own both an EJ25 and EJ20 cars and drive them back to back. Look forward to your GRB V10 build GC8 build.

If its not too late, I'd like to offer you a new intercooler design that is front mounted but more efficient but with 63% less piping than your traditional FMIC. It reacts much more like a TMIC in response due to its vertical flow core with only 6" tube length. It's sold only as a kit with an extruded tube radiator. Interested?
