Default Boost Problem / Wastegate*solenoid* Problem??

Okay, Last winter I was just driving about my business and the roads were clear, and I decided to open up my 04 WRX with Cobb Stage 2, with supporting mods and what not.

I decided to get on it in 2nd, and it only boosted 10psi. Anyways Plugging in my access port it seems to be more along the lines of 8.9 psi, but I didn't pay attention to it right away because well, It was winter and I didn't rod on the car at all, I didn't have any codes so I just let it be. *drove my truck most the time*

Anyways, Its been bugging me recently, first of all I thought maybe it was the boost pill. So I decided to test something, I took out my MBC from my dsm, and threw it on my subaru. Now I know this isn't looked good upon in the subbie community, but bare with me.

I then adjusted the mbc, and it would still not boost past 8.9 psi. I then CRANKED the ffer up and it is it either. boosts above 20 or 10. anyways, I was like wtf? So I took that off and left the pill on.

Tonight I was driving, and if im in 2nd 3rd or what not. and step on the gas 3k rpms or lower or higher whatever. It only boosts to 8.9psi, But if im in like lets say 3krpms in 1st gear, and stomp on it, and shift into 2nd, it'll boost from 8.9 to 18.1 psi.... and keep boosting 18.1 psi in the rest of the gears. Im thinking my wastegate is effed. Otherwise I'm not sure what else to think? I wouldn't think my coils are bad or wouldn't I throw a misfire code?

Now, I reset my ECU with my AP, and then put the stage 2 map back on. Still the same thing. Now im guessing that either my waste gate actuator arm came loose or it needs to be replaced. I had a problem with my DSM that my diaphragm was punctured or something so no matter what it was uncontrolled boost. I replaced it and it was good to go.

Anyone have any information and or Ideas? Or had the same problem? I live like 3 hours to the nearest subbie dealer, and I guess for right now i've been using th economy mode, because, well. I'm not to aggresive with my car unless im autoxing or maybe doing road racing. *on a track*

Thanks guys

-Chris

I feel like if it was a serious wastegate problem you would have seen more of a radical/violent response from your engine. I am assuming you checked all your connections from the solenoid to the turbo/wastegate. IF you have fiddled with it a good amount it might be right to check out all the splitters (T-split and the pill) to make sure they arent pinched. That's all i have besides trying out the stock map to see if you push stock boost. Then you can narrow it down to see if its the Access Port's problem or something under the hood.

How did you run your MBC? If you installed the MBC you have to remove the "T" and the pill and just run the lines to the wg and the turbo... Make sure that you have the line right too if your going to stick with the mbc because if its backwards you will run wastegate pressure till you get into the 5000rpm range then it will spike up to like 18-20...

I just threw the mbc infront of the pill. So I could delete the whole line/whatever the line with the pill goes to? Im not sure if thats the problem becauseee I had the problem before I even installed the MBC.

I guess I'm trying to think what it can be, Because it just stopped boosting the regular psi one day, so I figured it was some sort of limp mode. So I reflashed, and still it was like that. So i threw my MBC to see if I could even boost higher, I could but it was a ****ed up type boosting.

So, Could it be a bad Acuator? Or maybe could one of my coils be bad?

Clean it an see if it helps. If you search there is a bunch of info on testing/cleaning the BCS.The BCS would be the first thing to check along with vacuum lines and possible preturbo exhaust leaks. Also if the ECU is not happy it will cut boost.Unless you have a way of datalogging the car to check the IAM/DAM and knocklearning you really won't be able to know on that end.
