I find it funny that so many people have to make 6xx whp to get into the 10's on a manual when way less power can get you there with a built auto. Yet, said transmission is essentially a manual. And can be daily driven nicely.

Most people only need 5xxwhp to run 10s....like the OP

Do you know how much a built slush box is for a suby?..$$$$

I don't think anybody would waste there money on a auto trans.. I went 10.7@130mph making 500whp on pumpgas and I'm not shooting for 10s my friend.. Single digits..

Ran a 10.3 @ 135 mph on a 6 speed at 530 hp.

Most people just can't launch and drive the car like it needs to be.

I have a 2006 Limited Edition wrx with a automatic tranny in it. Im dumping atleast 30 to 40 grand into it. So far i put 850cc fuel injectors, walbro fuel pump, sti group N mounts, turboxs FMIC, boost controller, 2.4 perrin inlet, AMR CXR500 turbo, perrin cold air intake, stage 2 cobb tune, perrin high flow catted downpipe, cobb cat back, and perrin equal length header. Im sure im forgetting some things. Tomorrow im dropping the car off at turbotrix to install the turbo and a couple other things and get a tune but i just bought this car 2 weeks ago and ive already done all this. As soon as turbotrix can get me in im rebuilding the whole motor from top to bottom and i have an appointment with level ten for the tranny. Im looking to make this a 9 second car. Nothing should hold me back i have all the money

I'd have a turbo 400 with a transbrake or a 727 torque flight with overdrive. Screw a subaru auto..if your gonna build a transmission why not build one that's going to hold up forever. People make the adapter plates that adapt the subaru dowels to the tb400/727 bellhousing patterns.

2 reasons, you wont be AWD and the 400 or 727 take a lot of HP to drive!
If you were to go that way use a Powerglide...

I live in the city with stop and go traffic all day. Plus my wife cant drive a stick and i want her to be able to race this car as well plus i have the money to burn so i bought a auto. Also the limited edition has leather and a sunroof plus heated seats. You can only get all that with a limited edition which is an automatic. Its worth it to me to have a fast car that my wife can drive and thats a every day car. Also i went with the AMR CXR500 turbo to test it out for every one no body really knows how they are because there 1,500.00 for the turbo and no body wanted to kick it out on a turbo they know nothing about. So im doing alot of people a favor by spending the money to test this turbo out because if my car hits high numbers alot of people will be buying this turbo. I know its got to be a good turbo because when ralli spec sent me my 18,967.00 estimate this turbo was on there. So if they recomend it then its got to be good. I know one guy with a 2002 wrx who used it and laid downn almost 350whp with no where near all the modds i got. plus i got the bigger 2.5 motor which soon will be a 2.7 motor. Im gonna go with turbotrix instead of ralli spec. I will be starting a thread so people can see what i do with this 4eat. Theres alot of people who think the 4eat is not a reliable race car. My goal is to change there mind by spending tons of money. Also if any one needs any parts from jscspeed PM me i can get you really good discounts. For instance i only paid 1.200 for my turbo...thanks

Well ESX has been racing with a Manual Valve Body 4EAT for how long now in the 9's. A turbo car should just love an Auto

I have actually been tossing around the idea of doing a built auto for my car, but i also race my car in some heads up events.

esx or trp base auto w/trans brake=9000.00.Alex Mealer had one in his white h6 gt42 drag car and went 9.11@153 w/ a crappy 1.5 60 ft.The auto is great but very expensive. That tranny is now in the gc at Pand L that belongs to stluciasscooby.

The guy who builds or used to build the esx transmissions works at the shop I take my car to and used to work at strickley auto in denver. He's now at Suba Performance in downtown denver. That being said I would still go with an aftermarket auto trans period for drag racing. Too many wear items on the manual trans to make it a dedicated drag/daily car.
