UPS. How come I've gotten 2 rescheduled delivery notifications for the same item today? Is it in that much of a flux there? It's a 2lb box. So this morning it was arriving on Thurs, this afternoon it's Fri?

Ya'll have gotten worse. Much worse.

Got new tires last weekend at America's Tire (Discount Tire in other parts of the country). Not sure why but turns out they didn't actually balance the wheels at all. I had a pretty bad vibration on the highway. Went to my trusty (but pricey) tire shop and all 4 wheels were pretty far off.

I've always had good a good experience with America's Tire...not this time.

I actually thought something else was wrong because I noticed a bit of a vibration starting before I bought the tires. I figured it was the old tires just getting old.

I need to get with engineering, my new office has a coded lock and they set it to "1-9-8-5"

Now every time I go into to office, I get that stupid "Bowling for Soup" song stuck in my head. I hated that song in 2004 and I still hate it now!
If 1985 was released today it would be called 2004

Since I was out of town this week I didn't have time to dig into my kid's truck rear axle.

Got him to take it to a place to check it out.

They call me about 10min after they dropped it off.

"Your front tires are very worn and need to be replaced."

Me: Uh, they are less than a year old. Let's just focus on finding what's wrong with the rear axle and get that fixed.

My old boss bought tires for his Tesla and took it to them to get them mounted. It had different sizes front and rear. They mounted the rear 265 tires on the right side and front 245 tires on the left.

I had an S2000 for a couple of years in the mid 2000s. Due to AutoX and track days, I was replacing tires every 6-8 months. Ah, the days when I had money to burn

Every.****ing.time

I would point it out to guy at the counter, didn't matter. I would write "front" and "rear" on the wheels and tires, didn't matter.

I gave up and starting taking two fronts and two rears at separate times to save myself having to wait 30-45 when I went to pick them up.

mom takes her kia to the dealer where she has gotten all its maintenance

dealer: your battery is old and not holding much charge. It needs to be replaced.

mom calls me, nervous the battery will leave her stranded.
I tell her to take it to where she bought the battery, as its fairly new and it should be under warranty.
Battery and alternator get checked. All good.

My battery on the other hand. This morning gave me signs that it was struggling to start the car. Again. Last time it left me stranded for no good reason, as it was charging fine. Possibly dirty/corroded poles.
Will clean and apply some anti corrosion to the poles sometime this week.

I can only imagine how messed up they would be if they were different diameter front to rear as well.

I've not had to use shops much but now that life has dictated otherwise I've come to figure out a few things.

1. Hard to find someone who does the work correctly.
2. Until proven otherwise, most shops do to try to make an easy buck.
2a. Meaning it's on you to prove to them you're not a sucker.
3. It's worth paying more to have it done right.

I've been using said indy tire shop for over 15 years. I am friends with the guy who was basically running it for the last decade but he moved on. Anyway, they definitely do the work right but you will pay more. They could have tried to sell me on any number of things being wrong since my complaint was simply a shimmy/vibration at highway speeds. So I appreciate the honestly in suggesting balancing the wheels even though they should have been balanced a week ago.

However, while I was there a blue hair came in and inquired about a set of tires for her Outback. They quoted her $1300 installed for a set of Continentals. Also observed a guy walk in needing a flat repaired on a normal car, $40. Later another guy walked in with a 911 of some flavour, $60. Anyway, it's always buyer beware.

I had a '91 MR2. That setup sucked. Instead of rotating, you buy new front tires but they you have older 1/2 worn tires on the rear where you want the most tread.

I saw a Smart ForTwo in our parking garage where apparently some dummy rotated its staggered tires.

20mm is a BIG difference when they are only 155's on the front and 175's on the rear. It should have been obvious that that wasn't right but I guess not.

Tire changers are barely a step above oil changers on the 'It was either doing this, pumping gas, or flipping burgers for a living' scale.

I suppose you're right. All 4 of them!

I gotta wonder how that would handle. I mean besides really, really poorly.

It's becoming a regular occurrence that our "FedEx Ground" deliveries, which usually show up around lunchtime, are arriving before our "FedEx Express deliveries, which are supposed to be dropped off by 8:30a at the latest.

If I was the person paying for the shipping costs, I would be pissed

I almost never eat fast food, but I decided to get a Wendy's double, fries and small chili. $15. WTF?
