I would put the cosworth on. Its a cheap part and it stops the belt from jumping. Its very common to see the belt one tooth off.

Instead of us calling joe, any way you can get a copy of your sales receipt and post the necessary parts and their numbers here, so it can be forever documented in this thread when people need these replacement parts for their ej207

Here's the parts list i ordered/used when I refreshed all my timing belt parts on my V7.
The belt is the OEM STi belt, feel free to sub the timing belt of your choice.
The water pump is the 257 part number which has a bigger impeller, IMHO is better than the 205/207 oem water pump my engine came with.

Did you mean "his" or "this" ?

I'm not saying any EJ25 is better than a 207. Not talking about Subaru engines at all, really, just talking about that guy's comments. He said the peak HP of 2 engines is identical. One has a much broader power band, and he said the OTHER was better because it won't stress the rest of your drivetrain. That's ridiculous. By that same logic, you'd be better off with a 96hp EJ151 so you won't break your gearbox.

Hey does anyone know where to find a replacement timing belt cover for a V7 Ej207? Mine is pretty badly cracked. I tried swapping it out with my old WRX one but it didn't fit at all. Does the USDM STI timing belt cover fit? Anyone know where to source one?

Thanks!

Buy a grimmspeed 3 port. My Version 8 207 had only 8,300km and it couldnt even handle my stage 2 mods pre or post on the dyno. So when we were tuning I threw on a 3 port and never looked back. IMHO $100 is not even a question when it comes to having some extra assurance. F1 ehhhh... id say no. Stick with whats known to work well... exedy and act

Also what are every one's opinions on the stock boost control solenoid? Or should I just get a Grimmspeed bcs?

Thanks

Its like christmas! WOOOOOOO!!!! I mine as well share with my fellow EJ207 owners that about 2 weeks ago I had a friend overseas in the land of cool cars send me the Authentic STi Group-N Antilag ROM for Version 8 JDM EJ207`s. Now I dont know what im looking at when it comes to reading tables and tuning but thankfully (My friend and Great tuner does). So he was going to look over the patch and check it all out.

My idea of what im going to do is I already have ECUflash/RomRaider downloaded onto my old laptop so I would like to have 2 maps and the antilag patch on it and become comfortable switching between the 2 and adding the patch

First map will be my 19psi 93oct 287awhp/269tq Mustang dyno log and the second map I want is 23psi and 110oct leaded guessing to put me around (310-330 on the same notoriously low reading dyno) And of course have the Group-N STi Brand antilag patch that I can add onto either map for the sould purpose of it sounds sooooo bad ass the reward outwights the risk!

Ill be sure to share a video when its up and running in the spring/summer! Coming to a Connecticut Street near YOU! haha

And for those who dont know this isnt just some map that joe schmoe made. You can actually buy this product from STi over in Japan as they made it for the Gruppe-N racers for a plug-n-play solution. Ill try and find the link but I believe it costs $400-500! (but dont quote me yet)

Interested to see how the antilag works for you. Only problem is you will blow through turbos very fast. Please make sure you keep us updated.

What are your goals for running the Group-N map? I'm not exactly sure why you would want this map with such a small turbo, especially on an everyday 93 map. Anyway, I will definitely check back for results, just out of curiosity. Also, 19psi and 287 whp sound about normal to me. I think I remember from your thread in PPB that you were tuned at EFI, their Mustang doesn't seem like one of the low reading ones.

I just finished installing my EJ207 with JDM ecu today but when I went to start it up for the first time the CEL started flashing immediately when I turned to key over to prime the fuel system. I started up the engine and let it run until it reached operating temp and the CEL kept flashing but the motor seemed to run fine. I used the wiring kit from IAPerformance to wire up the AVCS. Does anybody know what the problem could be? I'm thinking one of the wires in the ECU plug did not seat properly. Would not having AVCS hooked up cause the CEL to blink?

No AVCS will not show a CEL. Can you scan for a CEL code?

Unplug your PCV connector. The JDM motor does not use it and your 04 has it. Sometimes you could also have a Loop back plug put in the connector if you have an aftermarket inlet pipe.

Where is the PCV connector located? By the throttle body? That might be the problem....the motor had a Perrin turbo inlet pipe already that I reused but doesn't have a loopback connector, that hole it plugged up I believe.

Clark, what do you know about the stock EJ207 Crank Pulley. I went to go pull the thing off and replace it with my Perrin aftermarket one. I was kind of disturbed by the fact that it is different and heavier than my 03 WRX one was.

I've seen it mentioned in one place on the net that it's ACTUALLY a "harmonic balancer and fluid stabilizer." I know I've seen a letter from Subaru saying that the crank pulley is just a pulley. But I wanted to go to the source on info for these JDM engines.

Truth or interwebz bull****?

Ok I think I fixed the problem. Went back today pulled off the TMIC and unplugged the connector under the throttle body now I'm not getting a CEL.

I'm also interested in fellstar's question because I have installed a UR light weight crank pulley on my EJ207. Any thoughts?
