Default Philippine-based member in need of help in 08 WRX iPod integration

I'm back home and one of my pet projects I want to pursue is adding iPod integration to my 08 WRX hatch's sound system. I just got off the line with our dealer here and they claim that it doesnt work cause the head unit has to have "satellite radio" I say "bs" as it shouldn't matter.

To put this to rest I took a photo of my car's head unit. I'd like to ask the help of US-based Subaru owners with the Subaru iPod integration kit if what I have here in the Philippines is the same one you folks enjoy there. Cause it is then it should work.

Looking at the PDF user guide does give weight to what they said but there's a note on subaru.com/ipod that said I didnt need satellite radio or navigation capability to have iPod integration.

This is just me but all cars sold today should have at least rudementary USB support.

although my personal unit in my car has satellite ready and stuff for ipod, i'm not really into that stuff.. but i still see no reason why any 08 impreza would need satellite radio in order to have an ipod integration

unless the factory uses the satellite radio in the same module for ipod=/

Your radio looks different from my radio. I have the Sat. feature and got the Ipod kit. I have a 2008 WRX Prem. package. You do need the Sat. feature on the radio but it will not work when you have the ipod kit?

according to the SOA website, the ipod adapter kit is not compatible with the Sat tuner. So I guess you can't have both. (at least as an aftermarket install)

not sure if it is different in your country.

Sat radio is only available in certain countries like the US , Canada, and the UK.

The radios are made by either Panasonic or Clarion. There are many different models of radios and each have different parts inside. Depending on if the radio has the support mechanism or not, the iPod adapter may or may not be able to be added.

Pull your radio out and look at the back. If you can find an expansion port, then you should be ok. If there is nothing but a power harness and antenna plug, sorry.
