I have a V-1 tactrix cable purchased in 2005 or 2006. (If only I had left it in the package, it would be worth millions! )It's used regularly, but not nearly as frequently. Life is wwwaaayyyy different than it was 10 years ago.

Anyway, was just logging to check on the overall health of the old girl after hearing (actually with my ears) some knock.

Experienced the lock up issue again. Same deal as before. Seems to happen at peak load. I have to unplug the USB, close the logger window, close RR, replug USB, reopen RR and then logger.

I never did add the ferrite chokes and I was just thinking about looking into them today.

I had a similar issue and it was corrected by switch to a usb cord with chokes. Haven't experienced any freezing since swapping the new usb cable

I was also having the same problem, once above 4,000 rpm romraider would freeze. I have a Tactrix 1.3 cable, installed 9 chokes on the cable. 3 chokes at each end about 1" from each other and 3 more along the length of the cable. Also, 1 choke on each side of the car wires just behind the obd2 port. Working perfectly now. Thanks to all who contributed here and the good people at Tactrix.

Another revival-
I would like to add that I've had this problem on my 2005 Forester XT 4eat.

This problem remained consistent with;

1.Cobb Accessport V2 and V3.
2.Romraider plugged in to my laptop via open port 2.0
3.BTSSM via Bluetooth to nexus 7 through OBDlink MX and BTSSM adapter. (Awesome by the way)

Problem remains consistent with a lockup and automatically restarts the monitors with the datalog ending as the load increase.

These repairs were consistent with each test;
1. replaced the obd connector per the request of Cobb - no fix
2. installed a single ferrite choke with wire wrap in place - no fix.
3. installed two ferrite chokes, one at Accessport end and one at OBD end - no fix

I will remove the electrical tape and add a couple more chokes and reply back. I feel oddly optimistic, thanks for sharing everyone!

Have you checked the grounds? Given vehicle age they may be weakened ,corroded, or broken
