There is. Tadge Juechter, the designer of the C8, also designed the Aztek, IIRC.

The Aztek guy is there too...wow
Bryan Nesbitt (PT Cruiser and HHR) is their head of international design so I guess they're recruiting the best lol

This is where function trumps form. This move, from an engineering perspective is all about cooling.
It trumps it with big old boots. Definitely high on function, but wow, at a lot of cost to the form. Odd to see the interior otherwise simple. Like a larger version of the colocanyon interior, which is not a bad thing imho.

GM needs to overhaul all of their design teams. It's like they are going out of their way to make homely exteriors and fisher price interiors. Surely someone at GM must have enough common sense to know that styling matters?

Most all styling these days from any mfr, truck or car alike, is over the top. The colo interior is quite good, has it in all the right places, I like the simple style of the of the interior and it works well. Same for the exterior, its subdued and simpler.

That said, the tendency is to go over the top in lieu of getting some actual styling talent, giving the focus groups the bangles they want, and play it safe and not take chances. They are responding to what people want and buy, sad that these things are what the public at large wants.

Default Chevrolet Silverado Rebate Reduces Price By 20 Percent In November 2019

Chevrolet Silverado Rebate Reduces Price By 20 Percent In November 2019

Chevrolet Silverado sales increased nearly 17 percent during the third quarter of 2019 as more body styles and powertrain variants became available at the retail level. And now, as part of its Black Friday sales event, the Bow Tie brand has released a 20 percent Chevrolet Silverado rebate for some Silverado 1500 pickups. It’s worth noting that the offer is nearly identical to the 20 percent discounts offered during July and August.

The Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet Silverado offers for the all-new pickup truck on the T1 platform during November 2019 are as follows:

2019 Silverado Double Cab:
20 percent price reduction below MSRP
2019 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LT: $3,010 price reduction + $2,500 customer cash + $2,000 package cash + $1,000 purchase bonus cash + $1,000 option package discount = $9,510 total cash allowance
Requires All-Star Edition/Z71 Off-Road Package
Based on MSRP of $52,175
2019 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ: $3,055 price reduction + $2,500 customer cash + $3,250 purchase bonus cash + $500 option package discount = $9,305 total cash allowance
Requires All-Star Edition/Z71 Off-Road Package
Based on MSRP of $55,095
2019 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab: $1250 cash + 0 percent APR for 72 months when financing with GM Financial
GM provides the following example for the largest Chevrolet Silverado discount of 20 percent as it applies to a 2019 Silverado 1500 LT All Star Z71 model with an MSRP of $48,775:

$6,895 total cash allowance + $2,860 price reduction below MSRP = $9,755 total discount
This Chevy Silverado discount lowers the price of said model to a much more palatable $39,020.

For reference, here are the 2019 Silverado 1500 trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:

Work Truck – $35,995
Custom – $37,795
Custom Trail Boss – $41,795
LT – $40,695
LT Trail Boss – $49,795
RST – $45,995
LTZ – $43,000
High Country – $54,495

It’s worth highlighting that the 20 percent Chevrolet Silverado discount only applies to a single body style (Double Cab). However, unlike previous offers, it is not restricted to a single trim level (LT). That’s still a relatively conservative offer, as rivals such as FCA’s Ram and Ford are offering discounts almost across their entire full-size, light-duty truck range.

For reference, here’s a comprehensive list of all the Chevrolet offers for the T1 2019 Silverado so far this year, with the offers typically being limited to specific models and/or trims:

January 2019 (introduced mid-month): $6,505 off
February 2019: over $7,000 off
March 2019: over $9,000 off
April 2019: over $9,500 off
May 2019: over $9,000 off
June 2019: over $8,500 off
July 2019: 20 percent off
August 2019: 20 percent off
September 2019: $9,760 off
October 2019: $9,510 off
Disclaimers

Must take delivery by December 2nd, 2019, unless otherwise specified
See dealer for details.
Incentive for the United States of America, unless otherwise specified.
Some customers may not qualify for this offer.
Offer not available with special finance, lease, and some other offers.

Default Chevrolet's Website Refuses to Call the Silverado's 2.7-L Turbo Engine a 'Four-Cylind

Quote:
There are several automotive segments where relatively small engines with turbochargers are thought of as cool and cutting-edge, but the pickup truck segment isn't one of them. Automakers know that—and they'll do whatever's necessary to promote their products without mentioning the forbidden four-letter word: four-cylinder. Don't believe us? Head to Chevrolet.com, explore the Silverado's marketing materials, and tell us how many times you read the word "four-cylinder." That's right, zero. Chevy's new 2.7-liter truck engine may be powerful and fuel-efficient, but the Bowtie knows that truck buyers will melt vampire-style at the thought of a four-banger.

Brought up to our attention by GM Authority, Chevrolet's 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is mentioned by its code name of "L3B" online instead of 2.7L Four-Cyl, 4-Cyl, or something along those lines. For example, the other engines for the 1500 Silverado and Sierra are clearly labeled as "4.3L V-6" and "5.3L V-8" on their respective websites. In other sections of the site, such as the configurator or performance areas, the engine is simply referred to as the "2.7L Turbo," once again omitting its bad-for-business four-cylinder nature.

As hilarious as all of this is, the automaker's strategy is understandable. After all, four-cylinder engines have always been thought of as wimpy and worthy only of the cheapest of econoboxes, not freedom-loving 'Murican trucks. However, this paranoia is mostly idiotic when you compare the modern four-cylinder engine's capabilities against those of its larger predecessors. Back in the day, Silverados with the Vortec 5300 V-8 engine managed no more than 310 horsepower, which the L3B most definitely matches while beating the V-8's torque rating with a healthy 348 pound-feet at just 1,500 rpm.

On top of the performance specs, the four-cylinder Silverado delivers considerably better fuel economy than the 5.3-liter model of yore, which delivered no better than 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg highway, versus the 2.7's 20 mpg city and 23 highway (which GM insists are conservative numbers).

Perhaps Chevrolet will eventually realize that by hiding behind a facade of L3Bs and 2.7L Turbos, it's only hurting its own efforts of modernizing truck buyers. After all, creating a powerful and efficient turbo-four is nothing to be ashamed of.

But the 2.7 just doesn't return the mileage that one would want to opt for a 4 cylinder truck.
