Force Induce MY99 GT Sedan
I've done a lot to MY99 (...http://216.242.153.40/MembersList/ViewMemberMods.cfm?MemberID=1290...)
..but like all Subaru owners, I want more power. A lot of it!!! Is there a supercharger or turbocharger I can put in MY99...and what else would I have to purchase, so that MY99 will run to the max. Suggestions are welcomed...Keep in mind though I want to maintain the stock look. (I will be posting new pics in Nov.) Thanks For Your Help [This message has been edited by CRAZY KEN (edited October 16, 2000).]

Within the last day or so, there's been news/rumors about Rallispec in Cherry Hill, NJ coming out with a turbo kit. Also TRi Tuning in Nazereth,PA maybe coming out with a supercharger kit. It's been posted in one of the forums, but there's so many now, I'm not sure where they're at. Those are both relatively close to you, and may be worth a look.
Rich -Those are both in the Misc. Non-Technical forum (whatever). It seems the TRi supercharger is in the very early stages. The Rallispec Turbo is close to being ready. [This message has been edited by richeich (edited October 16, 2000).] |

Anything (almost) that is done to the 2.5 in the RS works relatively well in the Legacy 2.5s.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't an my99 a Impreza. To my understanding the my stands for inpreza. My Legacy GT wagon is a BG body.

"MY" stands for Model Year. The Imprezas are "GC".

Having know RalliSpec from the beginning (my brother was their first customer...I was there the first day watching/helping the Minnam turbo install), and a turbo kit from them is not a new idea. They were talking about it over a year ago, and have been working on it since (along with all the other stuff they work on). I am glad that they are going to eventually come out with something, and I would not hesitate to buy it from them.
For the person that asked about the 99GT sedan, remember the DOHC engine setup is the same as the 98 2.5RS. My 99 2.5GT is almost identical to my brothers 98 2.5RS, and I can't see why the kit on his car (Minnam Stage 2) wouldn't work on the Legacy. Check out all pics and info at www.lagging.com Kev |

Yep, Rallispec is widely known as a top-notch group. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. (Just wish I was closer).

Yesterday I was fortunate enought to visit the Rallispec garage. After some chatting with Andy about mods for my 2000 GT the subject matter touched on turbo topic.
The short of it is, they are planning 2 turbos. The first is a ~$5K or more kit that runs from intake to turbo to fuel management to exhaust with a range of 7-12lbs of boost. The second is more or less a custom (basically no holds barred) turbo that will utilize additional electronics intercooler placement and have boost in the 12-20lb range. I don't want to say too much because it is still in the works... As a side note, Andy informed me that by looking at my 2000GT, there is a lot more room in the engine compartment than in the RSs, and room enought up front for a front mounted intercooler (esp. since I dont have the hood scoop.) All in all, any kit purchased through them will definately have excellent workmanship, fit, and finish. |
