Eugene, OR Autocross - March 4th
Hey everyone!
The Eugene, OR autocross club will be holding its 35th annual "Ice Breaker" autocross event. Icebreaker is always a good warm up for the season, and usually has a pretty big draw. Stock and Street Touring will be running in the morning. Would be good to get there by 7:30 to 8am. The event is held at the Coca-Cola plant on Chad drive, just down the street from Cosco. A map and directions can be found at: www.eescc.org Sean Ross will be running his silver '99 in STS, and I'll be running my silver '99 in G-stock. Justin (eugenekid) will also be there in his black '01. Hope to see you there! We'll have results posted after the event. I'll probably be there, too. The last forecast I heard was for rain on Sunday. That should be the magic trick to make the Subaru the fastest car there.
I'm looking forward to kicking off the 2001 season. Its been a long winter. Hope to see you all there! |

Is that "oh well" as in "oh well, I'll have to make another trip THIS weekend"

A couple extra little tidbits about this event:
Because this is the "35th annual Ice Breaker" the entry fee is $5 more than normal ($25 instead of $20 for non-members), but all entrants get a commemorative T-shirt for that extra cash. Oh, and for all EESCC events you have to bring a can of food for a "Food for Lane County" donation, or you're charged an extra $1 See ya, Sean [This message has been edited by rosss (edited February 28, 2001).] |

I figure it will stay wet for Sunday. Wouldn't mind a wet race...but I was hoping for some dry runs to learn my new Kumhos and KYBs.
Just bring lots of warm clothing! Last year it was 38 degrees, and working a corner, just standing there, can get cold! I'm going be layered up....with gloves and a wooly cap. See you guys there! I'm going to aim for 7:30 arrival. Hey...anyone have a good coffee thermos? c' |

Hey Chris, do you trust me enough for me to give you a check?
Just curious. I hate going to the bank, they charge me extra. I dont know why, they just do. If you want me to though, its not really that big of a deal. On a side note, anyone have a tarp to keep our misc. stuff dry? -justin |

I don't have a tarp, but I was gonna put all my stuff into one of those big rubbermaid green containers. Probably won't have much room left in there after my stuff, but if there is any, you're welcome to use it.

Justin: check will be fine.
Sean: big green rubbermaid thingy is brilliant idea. You gonna bring the air compressor? I'll bring the 12V impact wrench. I might also buy a smaller, lighter, two-stage jack. In place of that giant orange monster. Your probably driving down on your SO2's though... c' |

Yep, I'm bringing the compressor and digital tire gauge. I figured that I'd make up an autoX "kit" that'll include some of my tools and my 2 ton floor jack (much smaller than your big orange one) as well as all the other little stuff (sunscreen, etc.). I'll have that with me in the rubbermaid thing.
Are you bringing those solid end-links? I need to know what the bolts are so I can bring the proper wrench(es). Ohboyohboyohboy! I can hardly wait, first event of the year! Woohoo! See you all soon, Sean PS: Did I mention, Ohboyohboyohboy! |

Hey Sean, remember me? White on white GT? How yah been? Check out the mods now Maybe I'llsee you guys there, -Matt |

how much to watch?? it is near the grainger building...it is real easy to get to if you are coming from outta town!!! head south on the I-5 (assuming you are coming from portland, etc) exit onto beltline west bound, you will see the Register Guard building on the northside of the Beltline (to your right) and then you will see a Fox and UPN building and then take the FIRST EXIT off the beltline onto Coburg Road...take a right, heading north and you will see a Costco Gas station..take a right at the first light (Chad Drive)...go down about 1/2 mile, you will pass a Taco Bell, Video Only, UlaneO credit union, Officer Max and then an empty field on the right side..i believe the next drive way on the right hand side is Coca Cola....can't miss it...

Matt, HBOC's directions are perfect, so I won't add to them. And yeah, I remember you! From that first RallyX I went to in St. Helens back in '99. Do you still have my coat that I left there?
It'd be great to see you, I notice you've got a turbo on that GT now. Very cool! You should come and run Street Mod against the modified A4 and S4 crowd in Eugene... HBOC: As to your "how much to watch???" -- Not sure if you're joking or not, but you can come and watch for nothing... Hope to see everybody there on Sunday! Sean |

Well, those that wanted rain, got plenty! Very, very wet. Mighty fun though.
Subies took a 1, 2, 3 in STS (beating several other markes including a couple Integra GS-R, Neons, etc.). Subies 2nd and 3rd and ? (Justin, what'd you get?) in GS. A GS Integra type R took fast time of the morning by a couple hundredths. He opted against his R-compounds and ran his street tires, and it paid. Matt Anderson drove all the way from Bend to run his sweet turbocharged '98 white Legacy GT, and had fast time of the morning until he was just edged out by the Type R. It was Matt's first Autocross! Very impressive performance. I think he ran "OSP" -- but probably would've been SM in an SCCA event. All in all, quite fun, although miserably cold and wet. Working the course was no fun at all... A few photos are up at: http://www.subrew.com/library/eescc_icebreaker/ There'll be a few more later, but not too many. It was just too miserable for anybody to stand around just to take pictures. See you all next Sunday in Portland! Sean |

I like it wet!
Unfortunately, Chris still beat me soundly. Sean, you had me by 0.75 seconds. I know where I made my mistakes. I wasn't aggressive enough in the sweepers. Just something to remember for next... Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!! Andy |

First autocross being the driver for me, I went from 56.??? to 53.??? to a 52.???, but I never found the final results because they never posted any for me. I am hoping the results are up on thier website soon, even though I hear they can take forever to update it.

I think I would have been 5th in G-Stock, but not possitive, if I wasn't in Novice. All my runs were fairly clean, no cone carnage.
I can't wait to get my skid plate on, thanx Chris. Sean, thanx for the use of the air compressor. I think I need some driving practice, I probably looked like a drunken monkey flailing around the course. It felt as if I came into the finish way to hot every time. As for my launches, uuuugh, talk about lag. as Ralph would say - "Smells like burning" |
