There's a thread here in conversions. And it has pics. Old engine is out. New engine is pretty much ready for insertion. I pulled the dash and started to strip the wiring harness the other day. I need to get it out, replace the fuel pump and drop the engine, and it is done. The only thing I am missing is the pump and exchanger for the AWIC and the wastegate control solenoid/pressure sensor stuff. The first two are easy. The other stuff has been challenging. every local Legacy turbo I have found for 2 months has already had them stripped from the car...

I tried PMing you for pics. Though the car isn't "totally" done because it has to be repainted

Damn Smacksube's little brothers friend and his bee-bee gun.

hi every one,
i am new to this forum and i just got done with a EJ207 Sti onto my 2.5 RS. Everything is fine, beside that my CEL constantly flashing. It doesn't seems to try to show a code, but just constant flash. It will only start flashing if i put it in gear and drive it and the flash will stay on until i plug up the "green plug". Also i can't read codes with US OBD2 machines. Is that normal?Does anyone know what's wrong with it?
Thanks

OBD 1 lets off 5 fast flashes for an OK code. OBD2 I am not sure of.

It will continue to flash atleast as soon as you turn it on. Then stop. Again this is with OBD1. As for OBD2 I am not sure. You can put the ECU into reset mode though and it clears all the error codes from the ROM.

Do you have your diagnostic mode connectors still connected? Once you have run the diagnostics, you are supposed to disconnect them...

u mean the green plug? I connect it to start the car, that will take off my engine light. Then i unplug it. But when i put it in gear and drive it, CEL comes on again. Also how can i put the ECU into rest mode?

Its been a while since i seen any go that cheap. I was looking at engines on ebay the other night and i saw the ej20tt going for a grand and people bidding on it too. Back in the day you couldnt get 600 for them. I guess i am old school. I can remeber typing subaru in ebay and only getting 150 matches and not one of them being anything remotely performance related.

yeah,
$300 was back in the day before the WRX hit and got popular. Now a basic EJ20G out of a Legacy runs $650, minimum...

Default sensors plug in a EJ20G

Will the sensors from my 95 1.8 ECU plug into the EJ20G ok?

What about a EJ20TT (If all the twin turbo crap was ripped off it and it converted to a single turbo setup with my turbo kit I already have).

What difference would it make if I got an engine with a cut wiring harness what does that mean? It is cut before the adapter harness leaving just a string of multi-colored wires. I wouldn't need to use the harness if I was just plugging the sensors from my 1.8 to the new engine would I ?

Default Throttle cable

Currently doing a 98 JDM wrx swap to my 2000 Legacy. Having some trouble with the throttle cable, I know this is a thread from forever ago but does anyone know how to make it work? Currently using an 02 wrx cable but it doesn't seem to have enough exposed cable. Any advice?

i have done a number of swaps. i have used different cables. but have always had to cut and modify the bracket to make it fit. AKA cut and weld it.
