Default NYC (Queens): Looks like NYPD is cracking down on tint

Just a heads up to my NYC folk, just got a ticket for tint. This is the second time I've been pulled over IN A WEEK for tints, both times windows were checked with the meter. I'm at 35% all around if it matters.

First time was on Union Turnpike around 12PM on a sunny ass Sunday, the one just now was on Northern Boulevard at 10:30PM (how he spotted me, I had no idea)

These are the first instances I've been pulled over for tints on 1.5 years so either I've been lucky or they're buckling down HARD. Pretty sure it's the latter.

BE SAFE KIDS.

I think its a good idea for us to post up spots here locally where people have been or are more prone to being pulled over for tints or any other minor infractions.
I have also been pulled over for tints before, stopped on a red light and foot patrol told me to park up on the side. Anyways Imo these are some hot spots u should avoid;

- roosevelt ave. (jackson heights area)
- 37th ave (parallel to roosevelt)
- jamaica ave (around the collesium)

They always pull people over for tint violations. I've been pulled over 3 times in the 12 years of owning my previous car.

Two of the times I was pulled over because the cop had "nothing to do."

the way i see it tint is a double edge sword.

on the one end you can get hassled for it, however if you're respectful most times i've just been let off with a warning.

on the other end, i've been pulled over for speeding or other moving violations and let off with a tint ticket as a favor.

so while you can get hassled for tint, it can also play out in your favor. either way, dont be a doucher.

I got pulled over last week for exhaust but got a tint ticket. In NJ the ticket was $50, I consider it a tint tax. I get pulled over at least every two months. Most of the time they say exhaust or tint.

I remember when I had GA plates cops would give me a hard time about my tints here in NY.
Since I work and I'm on the road a lot I can tell you the exact spots where they're at lol.
Last night on the GCP WB one was right on the little neck parkway exit.
The other jerk was about between the Cross Island exit and little neck pkwy entrance.
I have tints and the nameless exhaust but they didn't bother me since I wasn't speeding either.

I think there is a ticket frenzy going on. In the last 2 weeks I have seen more Cops in Queens and Manhattan than I have seen in 5 years.

I think the increase in New York Pricks n Dicks presence in the last few weeks were due to A) US open, B) 9/11.

*sigh*, there arent exactly quotas.

alot of times, especially here in NJ, departments receive state grants to up patrols and and have a higher than normal traffic enforcement period. this usually lasts for about a week to month or so. seat belt, DWI, speeders, pedestrian/crosswalk and cellphones are usually the violations that come under the microscope. its more of a raise awareness thing. state grants are used to pay for overtime, allowing for cops to work their normal days off in order to up the number of officers on the road....hence the image that you may "see more than usual" during these periods.

dont forget, patrols use the tints more as probable cause than anything else to stop a car they think they can dig deeper into. here, most of the guys have their own cars tinted so they refuse to write for it. however, it can be used as probable cause for the stop.

Maybe they're cracking down on tints because they can't catch people texting and driving with tints on!
